Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

Creekside Camp #3
A perfect experience
We couldn’t have had a better time. Easy to understand directions and instructions, the hosts proactively reached out just to make sure everything was good. We felt so lucky having the whole section to ourselves but even if it had been full there’s still plenty of privacy. Having a flat stand for the tent truly made things so much easier. The only negative(and it shouldn’t be a negative as this camping) but cell service with T-Mobile was very very spotty but that just encouraged us to enjoy the the area. Tons of walking paths and just generally a great experience. We will be back! Thank you!

Redwood Camp #3
Resting Among The Redwoods
We loved tent camping at Salmon Creek Ranch. We stayed at redwood camp site #3. The redwood deck was a great because it was level ground and prevented a lot of dirt from getting into the tent. The surrounding redwoods were perfect for hanging out in a hammock. We were lucky and had the campground to ourselves for about half our trip, but even if there were other campers we still felt like we had enough privacy with the sites being a good distance apart. The site is well shaded, but the driveway gets good sun/the meadow area. It can get cold/breezy, so pack accordingly. There are good trails to explore, most are at an incline and can get a little steep. The honey bucket was clean and well maintained. We were happy to see various wildlife throughout our trip, our favorite being a few foxes! Make sure to visit the Mercantile. We enjoyed a delicious steak on our last night and stopped by again to buy a few more for our freezer and some duck eggs. John and Lesley were so friendly and very helpful. Directions were spot on. Definitely need an SUV/truck with 4WD and decent clearance to get to and from the redwood campground (unsure about the creekside campsites). We throughly enjoyed ourselves and will be staying here again. It was the perfect place to unwind in nature and spend our anniversary. We feel rested and recharged. Thank you John and Lesley for sharing your land with us!

Eagle's Nest Treehouse Farmstay
This is such a special place and a unique experience. Being perched in the very comfortable Eagles Nest treehouse up in the trees was pretty magical. We enjoyed exploring the property and taking scenic drives to the small towns on the coast. We also enjoyed some delicious beef and eggs. We would highly recommend this place.

Redwood Camp #2
We had a great time camping on John and Lesley’s land. It was mid-week and we were the only folks there. There are beautiful redwood groves and a spacious open meadow. Campsites have fire pits and we grilled a delicious steak purchased from the ranch. There are two camp areas, one creekside and the other redwoods. The road down to the redwood grove was doable once with my older Subaru Outback but not for multiple trips. The creekside is accessed by a paved road and much easier driving.
