OZ SKY RANCH

98 sites · RVs, Tents350 acres · Tamborine Mountain, QLD
Oz Sky Ranch is set on 350+ acres in the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland, just outside of Brisbane at the bottom of Mount Tambourine near Canungra. We cater to adventurous souls, with a range of adventure tourism activities in and around our property. Try tandem hang-gliding and paragliding and a full range of hang gliding and paragliding courses or just bring your own stand-up paddleboards and kayaks. Our lake is lovely and clean and is great to swim in. We opened up our working cattle and turf farm to promote Hang gliding and paragliding, we believe the more people see it, then the more people may like to come for a tandem flight or learn to fly with us. You can buy a friend or loved one a gift of a life time. Tandem hang gliding gift vouchers are very popular, as you get to take off from the property and flyover you’re campsite and then up to 2500ft. Then come and land right next to your friends and family at the Oz Sky Ranch. We pride ourselves on keeping the property lovely and clean. We are also opening our home and farm to you. So please respect it and enjoy it as we do. We have 5 designated campsites positioned around the property. Within the designated sites, there are camp spots that we rotate. Please check with us to see what ones are open. We need to rotate the sites and rest them. This is how we keep them well-maintained and looking amazing. If it is wet weather we will close down sites and recommend other spots. We pride our self’s on having a lovely property and want you to have an amazing camping experience. If it is bad weather, we will recommend another site or you can change dates. Campfires are allowed at designated camp spots when fire bans aren't in place. Firewood is available to purchase . We have a no dog policy. No smoking is allowed on the property, vaping is fine at your own campsite. No glass Policy, bring cans or leave your wine bottle in your caravan or tent/car. Bring plastic glasses to drink out off. We do have a lot of rule, they are in place to give you a Beautiful environment to Camp in and To look after our Animals and farm. We accept groups however we have strict rules around this, so please discuss with us first. If you are up early in the morning you may be lucky enough to see the best in QLD barefoot water skiers training on the lake and also tandem hang gliders getting towed up from the airstrip. All campers must check in before dark and call me before entering. We look forward to your enquiry.

The Rustic Resort Wamuran

22 sites · RVs, Tents90 acres · Wamuran, QLD
4WD accessibility only. The only exception to the 4WD accessibility is the 'Dam at the Rustic Resort' as it has a separate entry gate. If wet, please engage 4WD and stay out of the ruts. We are a 90acre private property who raise cattle and goats and have opened up to campers who, like us, prefer and love, peace and nature. We have all of our sites on Booking request ( Reserve). Please check that you are ok with our property rules before you book. If you are one of our valued regulars, thank you, we love hosting you on the property and always look forward to see you again. If your preferred site is not available , shoot us a message , we may have an alternative for you:) Our rules are really not rocket science, don't take things that are not yours, use the toilets instead of our bush, don't cut down trees or damage things, that includes damaging trees, don't leave anything but ash in the firepit ,make sure the fire is fully extinguished, remove your rubbish and respect and consider your fellow campers and our neighbours. Axe throwing has recently become popular within the city, if you must try it on the property , bring a board, our trees are not to be used as targets. Stay out of our gated paddocks. This is for Biosecurity and your safety. If you are first time campers on our property, this is our philosophy. We are trying to create peace and tranquility that people crave so much when they get out of their busy lives. We are not the place for rowdy parties or large groups ( unless you would like to book out the entire property) Most of our sites are nestled on different levels between trees and bush so you will feel like you are the only ones there. You are welcome to have a campfire in the provided fire pit or drum when there is no fire ban in place, however due to the unique surroundings we offer, we do require you to be extra vigilant with fire safety. You are most welcome to use your own off the ground firepit anywhere in your site. Please read site descriptions carefully as we have sites that are substantially different in access, privacy , level ground and distance to a toilet. We affectionately call our property "The Rustic Resort". This is a tribute to the rusty water tanks and dilapidated animal shelters that were left behind when we moved in. Our farm was once part of a thriving rural property in the 1920's. It used to be a dairy farm and then a banana farm. We now raise goats and cattle. Our property is dog friendly to responsible dog owners, we are happy for your pups to be off lead as long as you are the one in control. We have a large farm dam that never runs dry, (NO fishing please as we use this for livestock and swimming, and the last thing we need is hooks in peoples or animals feet. ) It is wonderful for a refreshing swim, there is a ladder to make it easier to get into the dam and during the summer months there are floating noodles for your use. Feel free to bring your paddle boards and canoes. We are centrally located to explore the Glass house mountains ( 20mins), Stoney creek (15min), Rocky holes (35min), Bribie island (40 min), Woodford (10min), Mt Mee (10min), Montville, Maleny (40min) and much, much more. We are 10 minutes from Woodford and the wonderful Woodford Folk Festival. "White Ridge Farm" in Elimbah is only 20 minutes from us, and the kids will love the interactive farm experience and cuddling the baby animals. Wamuran town centre has has an IGA, a wonderful butcher, bakery, bottle shop, 24 hour servo, a rural supply shop, fish and chip shop, a new pizza place and a Thai/Indian take away that is sensational. Wamuran holds a local country market every 4th Saturday per month from 7am to midday. There is a Woodfire pizza van in town 2 out of 4 weekends, look up Deadwood Pizza Wamuran to check the dates. We love them. If you would like to stay longer but feel like you need a shower occasionally, there is a public pool in Woodford and a public pool on King Street towards Caboolture , both are about a 10/15 minute drive from us. Wamuran is less than an hour north from the city, yet you will feel like you are far away. If you are looking for a dump point around the area, www.unitywater.com has a list of available dump points with addresses. If you have any questions please drop us a message.

Camping near Noosa guide

Overview

Noosa is a catch-all name for a collection of neighbouring holiday resort towns—Noosa Heads, Noosaville and Noosa Junction. Noosa Heads is the glamour girl of the three, fronting Main Beach and home to Hastings Street, a strip of smart boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Noosa Junction is more functional, with supermarkets, takeaway joints, banks, a movie theatre (for rainy days) and other shops to provide necessities. Noosaville lies along the Noosa River, with a yacht club, soaring pelicans and plenty of restaurants. Noosa National Park sits at one end of Hastings Street via a lovely coastal boardwalk.

Noosa Everglades

One of the most under-rated places in this region is the Noosa Everglades. Take a kayak or a boat tour to explore this wilderness area in the upper reaches of the Noosa River. This clear 60km stretch of water is renowned for its reflections, blooming water lilies and birdlife. It’s a photographer’s dream.

Tewantin National Park

Catch the Noosa Ferry up the river to the village of Tewantin, for more shopping and gallery-hopping. This is also the entry point for Tewantin National Park, which is criss-crossed with mountain bike trails, and the Mt Tinbeerwah lookout.

Noosa National Park

Walk the coastal track through the Noosa National Park, starting on the boardwalk from Noosa Main Beach. Before heading off check out the treetops as koalas are frequently spotted here. Along the way, stop for a swim at any of the sandy beaches around the coast, or sit and watch the waves and the surfers in action. The coastal walking tracks in the national park take you to places like Boiling Pot, Dolphin Point, Tea Tree Bay and Winch Cove. The inland Tanglewood is a great place for wildflowers in spring.

Sunshine Coast Hinterland

An hour’s drive away in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, mountain villages such as Maleny, Montville and Mapleton give stunning views of the coastline and inland to the dramatic volcanic plugs of the Glass House Mountains. Walking trails abound.

When to go

December and January are the busiest months, but book as early as you can for any holiday periods as this is a popular spot for Australian families. The Sunshine Coast has a moderate climate but can be hot in summer despite the coastal breezes. The annual Noosa Festival of Surfing, the largest longboard gathering in the world, is held over a week in mid-May in Laguna Bay, off Main Beach, Noosa Heads.

Know before you go

  • Camping is not allowed in Noosa National Park, but other commercial camping areas sit nearby. The best national park camping is in the Cooloola Recreation Area of Great Sandy National Park or in the upper reaches of the Noosa River.
  • Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available in Cooloola Recreation Area, at Freshwater camping and day-use areas, Bymien picnic area, Fig Tree Point, and Harrys camping and day-use areas.
  • Stay alert when on the beach in Great Sandy National Park, as parts are open to vehicle traffic. It can be difficult to hear over the sounds of wind and surf.
  • Remember to pack sunscreen and a hat; the Queensland sun can be fierce.
  • Camping permits for all Queensland parks, forest, and reserves must be booked online and paid for in advance. Make camping bookings as early as possible, especially for around Christmas.
