The Maple Creek Ranch and Tree Farm has been family owned and operated since 1934. The patriarch of the family, whose family had moved here from Sweden, had a great love of the forest and trains. The property was one of the first certified tree farms in California with the goal of nurturing a healthy forest. In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years. There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence. The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north.   While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2  primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking  *The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV.  Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's. We look forward to meeting you!

Site 1 - Forest Camping
Gorgeous
We have a small RV and family has a pop up tent trailer. We had so much room. Stars were amazing, quiet peaceful days and nights. The pond was amazing for the grandkids. They fished, paddled boats. It was a wonderful place to go. We hope to make it our yearly place. Thank you

Great experience
We where able to fit a 28' mini winnie, and a tent trailer in the site..incredible set-up, (fire ring, e-z up and chairs where provided). Communication with host was fast and easy. The flush toilet was a godsend..A short walk to the pond was well worth it fishing, swimming and water toys are just incredible. A total gem. Thank you for providing this look into your property.

Site 1 - Forest Camping
A gem
I almost don’t want to write a review because I don’t want people to know about this gem and then it get too crowded to book again lol. It was, quiet, private and had really nice amenities, including a steam train for the kids and a little pond to kayak on. This has been my favorite camp ground so far.

Will go again
Great camping, staff is very friendly and helpful. They offer a steam train ride through the forest. Love that our dog could be off leash.

Site 2 - Forest Camping
We had the best time, the campsite is private and definitely what we were looking for. The pond was so much fun for the kids to play in, complete with life jackets provided, kayak and a boat. They had so much fun feeling independent, but super easy to keep an eye out for them. The dogs loved going for a dip too! We were able to explore and go find the creek, not to mention take a ride around the property on the steam engine train. Hosts were amazing. We will definitely be back.
