Purchased in 1988 as a block of Bush, the majority of clearing was initially done with a small Massey Ferguson Te20 a long length of chain a shovel and chainsaw.Built originally with nothing more than the chainsaw, shovel, hammer and nails the log cabin that I still live in has undergone a few changes over the years but we have tried to keep it looking the same on the outside made mostly from large hardwood posts and paperbark slabs and half rounds for walls concrete floor with sunken lounge room. The hand built rock chimney is the feature piece of the front of the cabin so be sure to check it out and get a few pics.

Burrum Shores Campgrounds offers well maintained grassy sites with direct access to the beach. Access to the camp sites is via a dirt track. Accessible for 2wd vehicles with decent ground clearance and 4wd vehicles. We now have our toilets and showers completed and open. We can accept bookings from caravans, motorhomes, campers, camper trailers, tents, roof top tents and swags on select sites. Please refer to the individual site listings to ensure your camping setup is compatible with your site. Grey water must be captured in a grey water tank or a bucket and can be emptied onsite as advised by caretakers. ____________________________________________________________________________ Campfires are welcome in a raised fire pit, either bring your own or use one of our communal campfire areas. Firewood and kindling is available for purchase on arrival. You will have access to our town water drinking taps to fill your water tanks and we also have a dump point on the property. All sites are pet friendly. We ask that you keep your dogs on leash all of the time. Our only rules are that you respect the property and other guests and no generators. Wongi State Forest

When to go

Winter is the high season, offering milder temperatures for strenuous activities like hiking and horseback riding. Humpback whales make their annual migration during winter as well and can be seen from the coast of Great Sandy National Park from June through October. The humid summer season makes the waterholes in Wongi State Forest endlessly refreshing and draws campers to aquatic activities like kayaking through the Noosa Everglades.
