Virtue Farm K'Gari/Fraser Is view

5 sites · RVs33 acres · Booral, QLD
Virtue Farm is a 33 acre property overlooking K'Gari (Fraser Island). It includes 27 acres of remnant forest which will never be developed. The forest is an oasis for bird life, koalas, echidnas, kangaroos, other animals and is great for walking. There is no water, power or internet provided. You must have your own toilet to stay here and be able to remove all grey water. Our regional council does not allow us to host swag/tent campers. Tents and swags may be permitted if accompanied by an RV or caravan, please ask us first. Virtue Farm is a council approved self-contained recreational vehicle ground. Arrival after dark is by prior arrangement only as we have no lighting on the farm. We are 10 minutes from Hervey Bay and 10 minutes from the K'Gari (Fraser Island) barge that leaves from River Heads. Our land is registered with Land for Wildlife. We would love to share our developing farm with you while you stay. We are building a productive, diverse permaculture farm incorporating a market garden, food forest and small volume egg production. Our mission is to share sustainable production and lifestyle through education, tourism, partnerships and homestays. We operate all aspects of our business based on good moral ethics, honesty, and sustainability. Virtue Farm is 10 km from the barge to K'Gari (Fraser Island) and only 10 minutes drive to Hervey Bay's beautiful beaches, the Water Park, Urangan Pier, restaurants, shops and cafes. From your campsite, on our farm block, you will have sensational views to K'Gari (Fraser Island) whilst being surrounded by 27 acres of bushland that is reserved for nature and registered with Land for Wildlife. Expect to see amazing colours at sunrise and sunset. Enjoy the many birds and animals that you will see as you spend time exploring our bush and farm. There's the added bonus of a range of fresh, organically grown produce to be harvested daily at a small extra cost. You will love the peace and quiet of our block and the huge array of wildlife that choose to call our place home. To preserve this tranquility, pets and rowdy groups are not suited to this camp site. You are welcome to camp in family and friendship groups. If camping in a group you can choose how closely to camp near each other. If not with a group you must be at least 20m away from other campers to respect their privacy. The camping area is a slightly sloping grassed paddock - you will find rocks and uneven ground. All vehicles must be completely self-contained taking all water and waste off site. We have a Containers for Change collection point (recycling bottles and cans) and other bins to collect recyclable materials and will happily accept compostable waste. We welcome you to Virtue Farm where we are creating a chemical-free, sustainably grown, productive, diverse, permaculture farm incorporating a market garden and food forest. The guest guide that we provide on your arrival shares a little more about what we do. Families, regardless of number of children are $35 per night maximum ( book for 2 adults and 2 children even if you have more!) couples and singles are $25 - extra adults are $5 per night.

RUSTIC RETREAT

7 sites · RVs84 acres · Maryborough, QLD
Our property is situated on the banks of the great sandy strait just 400m from the Tuan Boat ramp with access to Fraser Island by boat or kayak. We are surrounded by State forests and wetland. There is a dam on the property for swimming and playing. 400m walk to the Tuan beach and boat ramp, exit via the main gate entrance. The forshore has a park, BBQ area and picnic tables as well as garbage disposal. There is plenty of space with-in the property and surrounding forests for mountain biking, motor-biking and walking. 3km down the road in Boonooroo you will find a large park with tennis court and public BBQ's. The bowls club and Golf Club are just 3km away. This site is suitable for caravans, RV's, camper trailers. There is no toilet facility on the property. We are VERY dog friendly and can be off lead as long as the dogs are friendly towards people and other dogs and don'y try and bite our horses which roam freely. We also have other peoples horses agisting in paddocks on the property. (Please don't feed them as their owners have requested this) You can feed our horses apples and carrots. Activities you can do include boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, crabbing, walking, stand up paddle boarding, bird watching, kangaroo spotting, playing in the parks, beach tennis, mountain biking, hiking etc. Camp sites are far from the main house and other sites so you can have camp fires and play music, use generators without worry of disturbing the neighbours. We have a tap/ hosepipe at the horse stables as you drive in on nexto the main house where you can fill up water canisters but might be easier to bring your own water. Text before hand to organise so we can show you where the fresh water tap is found. Campers will need to be self contained (rubbish and toilets) and please leave your campsite the way you found it. Don't leave toilet paper or rubbish in fire pits please. Enter / Exit the main gate by pushing the code into the key pad. (Given on booking) Gate closes after 20 seconds once it is fully open so be quick. NOTE: ***During Summer months - November, December, January and February there are midgees (sandflies) at dusk and dawn and we do recommend midgee screening or spraying the mesh on your caravan windows as the standard mozzie mesh will not keep them out. Bring coils, a fan as they hate any breeze, bug spray and long sleeved pants and tops to wear in the evenings from about 5pm-7pm. After it is dark they die down!*** ***4X4's are recommended if you don't stay along the fence line as it can get muddy if there has been lots of rain. If you stay along the fence line you will be fine as the roads are compact and hard and the camp sites along this fence are higher up, they are marked with Fire Pits so camp here if you want to stay dry and get a good breeze.*** We hope you enjoy the peace and quiet out here. If you need anything please message me on HIPCAMP messages or text or call me : 0487047270 (9am -5pm) Unless in an emergency.

Coonarr205

6 sites · RVs, Tents7 acres · Kinkuna, QLD
Welcome to my Hipcamp! Beautiful camping area situated next to the Elliott River. 10 minutes drive to Coonarr Beach, Coonarr Wildflowers and Kinkuna National Park. Amazing Stargazing! Just a kilometer up the road from our site, you'll find a charming Dog Motel. Please keep in mind that the noise from the dog motel isn't a nightly occurrence, making it difficult to predict specific nights when it may be more active. However I've noticed that campers in caravans generally have a more insulated experience and are less affected by any early morning barking. If you prefer a quieter spot, I make it a priority to assign campers the farthest firepit, Camp 4, nestled deep in the bush, providing you with a peaceful retreat away from any noise. Additionally I'm delighted to offer electricity to all camps, ensuring your comfort and convenience during your stay. Whether you choose a campsite closer to the amenities or opt for the tranquility of Camp 4, rest assured that you'll have access to electricity. While the dog motel may occasionally add a touch of canine charm to the soundscape, I'm confident that the overall experience at my Hipcamp will be an enjoyable one. Come join me amidst the beauty of nature and let the peaceful surroundings outweigh any sporadic noises from our furry friends. Campsites can be 30m from amenities (toilet & shower). Dog friendly. Drinking water & camp kitchen available. Kangaroo are known to feed on the grass in this campsite. Perfect base for a visit to Bundaberg or an east coast trip. Great for a bigger group with different spaces and communal area.

Forest camping near Woodgate with fishing guide

Overview

Hidden away along the Bundaberg coast, Woodgate is the gateway to Burrum Coast National Park and a great spot for a beach getaway. Head to Woodgate Beach to swim, fish, and spot wildlife such as kangaroos, turtles, and whales, depending on the season. Drive your 4WD down the beach to Burrum Heads, go kayaking or canoeing along the Burrum River, then check out the shops and restaurants along The Esplanade. Pitch a tent at the Kinkuna and Burrum Point camping areas within the national park, or check your motorhome or campervan into a holiday park or caravan park.

Where to go

Bundaberg Region

Hemmed in by tropical fruit orchards and sugar cane plantations, the Bundaberg region is most famous for its Bundaberg Rum and Bundaberg Ginger Beer. Once you’ve explored the countryside, head to the beach town of Bargara to spot sea turtles along the coast or cruise out to the islands and coral reefs of the southern Great Barrier Reef. You can even camp on Lady Musgrave Island.

Fraser Coast

Across the Isis River, lively beach towns and sandy bays pepper the Fraser Coast, which stretches all the way down to Rainbow Beach. Swing by the heritage town of Maryborough, fish along the creek in Burrum Heads, and set sail on a whale-watching cruise from Hervey Bay. There’s plenty of choice for camping and glamping, including tent and caravan sites at the Cooloola camping area in Great Sandy National Park.

Fraser Island

Just south of Woodgate, Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island and the star of the Great Sandy National Park. A natural paradise for outdoor adventurers, you can drive a 4WD along the beach, cool off with a swim in the Champagne Pools, and paddle around freshwater lakes in the heart of the rainforest. For the ultimate camping experience, escape the crowds at a remote bush camp in the dunes or pitch a tent right on the beach.

When to go

The beaches and wetlands of Woodgate and the Burrum Coast National Park are most popular through the summer months, and this is the best time for swimming, water sports, and turtle-watching along the coast. Don’t write off a winter visit, though. The Queensland sun shines year-round, and with average temperatures of 15–20°C, it’s the ideal time for hiking and fishing. August through October is also whale-watching season.
