The Maple Creek Ranch and Tree Farm has been family owned and operated since 1934. The patriarch of the family, whose family had moved here from Sweden, had a great love of the forest and trains. The property was one of the first certified tree farms in California with the goal of nurturing a healthy forest. In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years. There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence. The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north.   While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2  primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking  *The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV.  Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's. We look forward to meeting you!

Site 2 - Forest Camping
Site #2 was perfect and so were all the shared areas near the pond. Ron and Kristin obviously put a lot of thought and care into these sites and the camping experience and it shows. We will definitely be back and are already looking to book future weekends for next year.

Beautiful, shady, friendly host
It's a privilege to camp on this beautiful land treasured in a family for generations. Ron made me feel very welcome and made sure I had everything I needed for a nice stay. I loved swimming in the pond and hanging out under the trees near it - a shady, cool spot on a 95F day. The creek is also a beautiful, shady spot to explore. The campsite itself is very private, out of sight and very nearly out of hearing from the only other campsite. Plenty of shade there, too. The skies were dark enough that I could see the Milky Way at night. I took a day trip up into Lassen Volcanic National Park - it's a 2 hour drive, but a beautiful one. I look forward to going back to Maple Creek for future camping trips, alone or with friends and family. This was my first time camping solo, and I felt completely safe and secure. I even left the rain fly off my tent to watch the stars overnight.

What an amazing place. So peaceful and beautiful. Great hosts, the pond was an absolute treat ( And necessity since we visited on the hottest weekend on record). We will be back to explore the trails and ride the train. A few things we didn’t get a chance to do with the extreme heat. The pond is stocked with fish that you almost :) can catch with your hands. Loved it.

Fun family camping trip
I really enjoyed the site! Very private, picnic tables were in great shape, hosts provided water and were quick to respond to texts, even brought us bug spray! The pond is such a wonderful place to hang out, we even grilled burgers for lunch down there so we didn't have to leave. The kids loved it! The outdoor shower was a nice touch. Overall, a wonderful time and we will definitely be back!

Site 1 - Forest Camping
Beautiful and peaceful pond and great amenities. Outdoor shower by the pond was much appreciated as it’s a pretty dusty area. Flushing toilet near both camp sites was an added luxury. Although the pond is a decent distance from the campsites, there are several places to park if you need to bring a lot of gear and choose to drive down to that recreation area. Our only minor regret was not knowing we’d be sharing the pond area with an AirBnB. My sister and I had booked both campsites under the mistaken impression we’d have sole use of that area. As we both have young dogs, we were sensitive on encroaching on others with our talkative pups and therefore did not use the pond area as much as we would have liked. Wonderful friendly owners.
