Creal's Rest is a Star Host
Star Hosts are highly rated, responsive, and committed to providing incredible experiences.
Our story starts in Far North Queensland, when a german backpacker, me :), met an aussie fisherman, Craig.
To cut the long story short, after several years of distant relationship and living together in Germany we decided to move back to Australia. We had a vision, trying to find our perfect place to live.
Starting out with a car, a camper trailer and two bags we travelled from North Queensland down to Tasmania. Looking for a place to live.
On our way through Tumbarumba everything started to unfold and we fell in love with our property. The feel, the experience and the climate. This was it! We've found our perfect place and finally named it "Creal's Rest" which has two meanings for us. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which
is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish.
We are passionate about living simply, being natural and feeling at home. Building a natural and non toxic straw bale home has set us on our path of living naturally.
Nature provides us with the Best and by choosing natural and quality before quantity we look after ourselves and Mother Earth.
Simply Natural Home represents our lifestyle. Therefore we love to invite you to enjoy the beautiful campsite with its amazing energy for body, mind and soul.
Talk to us, if you like to know more. We are happy to chat and are
looking forward to have you as a hipcamper!
Love,
Tatjana & CraigExclusive campsite to only one group at a time!
Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead...
Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small picturesque creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... check out the big list of birds in the photo section that one of our very kind hipcampers from Birding Australia took for us.
We only take one group at a time, however there are a couple of camp sites to choose from next to the bubbling creek. The most popular site is near the beautiful big old apple box tree, the other site is a bit further along the creek. The primitive loo with a view under the apple box tree is in short walking distance from both sites (about 20m and 70m).
It is easy enough to pull a caravan through the site near the apple box.
Love fishing? Perfect! Enjoy a chat or fishing tour with Craig, who has been a professional line fisherman for 18 years! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Mannus Creek is only a couple of min drive away and Mannus Lake 15-20 min drive.
Hand feed our friendly alpacas, greet our pet chickens and find some eggs. Plenty of room for kids to run around, ride their bikes, play along the creek or jump on the 16ft trampoline.
Ask us for some fresh herbs from our garden if you like cooking with a little extra flavour or use them to enjoy a herbal tea.
Campfires are a regular on our property. Heard of "Swedish Torch" yet? An amazingly easy way of having a campfire, that burns for hours. Cook on it or just enjoy the beautiful mess free burning log. Interested? Talk to us about it and book ahead. Wheelbarrow loads firewood available for purchase, see Extras when booking.
Make sure you've also got some warmer clothes with you since you never know in the mountains ;-).
Children 5 years and under stay free of charge. Please mention them in your booking or message us to let us know. Is your group size bigger than our max. amount? Get in touch with us and we will see what we can work out. Thank you.
Our family of 4 loves to welcome you to our simply natural home at Creal's Rest. Hope to meet you soon 😊.

Tatjana
