Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
The ultimate Farm Solitude Camping experience. If you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to come and camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 14 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park All sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Note: The National Park holds their annual wild dog baiting program from 20/5/24 - 8/10/24 Which is done along our boundary on Bow River. It is safer not to have your dog in this area at this time. If you decide to, make sure it is kept on leash at all times and doesn't eat anything that could be laying around. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions and cut firewood is available for $10 per/bundle, cash only. There is an abundance of wildlife; Kangaroos, Wallabies, Wombats, Foxes, Emu's, water Dragons, Turtles, Fish, Goanna's, Lizards, Snakes, Echidna's, Eagles and plenty of Birds to see. For the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7km down to the Goulburn River through the National Park, with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs with caves and open areas. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD access as it is steep with loose gravel. "Gully View Campsite" is the closest site to the property entrance. It is ideal for people who will be travelling back and forwards from the property to attend other events. It is also ideal for those travelling in groups who want to be together but to also have their own private space to set up in for some time-out. It can also be set up as a communal campground for large groups. There are plenty of trails for Horse Riding (you will need to provide your own temporary fencing). Guests are required to be fully self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. At certain times some sites may be unavailable due to Cattle grazing in the same paddock. Cows are very curious and can be destructive to your vehicle and belongings. Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you Email a request, it may take a few hours for us to reply. "Eagles View" and" Eagle Ridge" Campsites are the only sites that have some phone service. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone. Note: In wet weather some sites will be unavailable and in extremely wet weather the property is inaccessible. Please check before booking.

Bow River Campsite
A delightful find.
We had a really lovely stay overnight at Dave's. Really excellent communication and ease getting to the site. Lovely very large flat area right next to National Park. Plenty of firewood. We did a walk downstream in the park from our camp which was well worth it. Thankyou we hope to be back.

Highly recommend Bow River Camp. We stayed for 2 nights and will definitely be back. David was super helpful. We did a great hike down to the Bow River and around the property. Very serene and secluded.

Gorgeous property.
Dave’s property was all I could have hoped for and more. My goal was to relax, bird watch and enjoy being in the bush. I spent hours exploring the bushland of the property which also has walking track access to the Goulburn River National Park which was equally delightful to hike and bird watch in. Dave is a friendly, relaxed host who escorts you to your site and allows camp fires in the provided pits or your own above ground fire pit. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this property.

Camping under the clear night sky!
We loved our Easter weekend camping. Dave was welcoming and a great host. Showed us some spectacular areas to explore whilst escorting us to our camp. Camping spots are well kept and slashed/mowed. Abundant wildlife, rock formations, caves, wombat barrows, dry creek bed and river, 4WD tracks and the night sky was so clear! Tracks were all marked and despite being such a huge property, we did not get lost once! Such a stunning property to explore. We have plans to return. Can't recommend David's property Enough.

Undiscovered delight!
This site is an undiscovered delight! Bow River site is just one of many campsites at the “Hillside” property. This particular one is 4x4 accessible only, leading you to an incredibly beautiful and secluded spot, which is large enough for a couple of families camping together. It’s then just a very short walk down the bank to the beautiful Bow River which is perfect for swimming, fishing (we caught heaps of Carp along with sightings of Bass and eels) and bushwalking. Walking along the river leads you to beautiful caves and rock formations to explore. We saw Emus, goannas, kangaroos, turtles and eagles. The host Dave is fantastic! Friendly and helpful and accomodating. He slashes your site before arrival and points out features of the property and places for you to explore on your stay while he is escorting you to your site. This is off grid camping. There is no phone range - which is a big bonus in our books! However if you must check in with the real world, you can drive up the top of the hill, stand on one leg with a finger in the air and connect if you must. We honestly could not believe we had so much space to ourselves for the entire Easter long weekend, seeing one other camping family only once the entire time. Our camp crew was 4 adults, 4 young kids and 2 dogs and none of us wanted to leave. Thanks so much for having us at your piece of paradise Dave!
