Jila Camp Grounds
Great weekend escape!
We had a great weekend at Jila Campgrounds - the place was beautiful, river very welcome on a hot weekend. Plenty of space to choose your own camp site. Great that it was dog friendly - and being so close to Sydney made it a perfect weekend getaway. Place felt lovely and remote and yet close enough to pop into Richmond for a lovely pub lunch! Highly recommend!

Lovely river camping.....with flies
Beautiful spot under the gum trees overlooking the river. A short three-minute walk down to the river, and oh my, that river is stunning. Lots of shallow bits for kiddos to wade in and some deep areas for real swimming. It was sweltering in November so we loved the option of this cool respite at our door. Hiring kayaks for a gold coin donation was really fun. I appreciated the luxury of flushing toilets which were very clean. The only bad thing is the FLIES, which I assume are due to the cowpats everywhere. The damned flies are relentless from dawn to dusk. My kid ended up in tears because of them - and we go camping a lot so he's no stranger to the discomforts of the outdoors. No flies at the river but you can't hide out there all day or you'll get sunburnt as there's no shade down there. Unfortunately I think the flies might prevent me from going back to this gorgeous spot.

Stunning place !
We absolutely loved this place, its beautiful, the grass is green, there's enough trees for shade and it's big enough to have your own space and not be crammed. The river is amazing, clear, white sand and the perfect temperature to cool off on a summers day!! Will be regulars now, stunning !!!

As a rather amateur Auntie bringing her niece and nephew on one of their first camping trips, this place was absolutely perfect for it. It is the definition of family friendly, with a soccer pitch, super shallow river and a slackline set up. This made our life so much easier and we all had a really good time!!
