Private sites
100% of recent Hipcampers say the sites felt private.
Nestled right up against the escarpment this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2024, all the trails on the property have been massively upgraded and are passable with a 2WD car. If you're towing or it's wet we still recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. We've just (mid December) added a spa half way up the driveway. It can be booked through the deluxe extra. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with.

Awesome camp site
Ian is a fabulous host. The location is stunning and very private. Highly recommended for tent camping. Lana the dog kept Diego great company and the fern forest is beautiful. Thank you - we will be back.

Easy escape
This is a wonderful secluded spot. Ideal if you want to totally get away from it all for a weekend or so. Just two hours away from Sydney.

Tree Fern Terrace
We had an amazing time camping at Mellows Ridge this past weekend! From the moment we arrived—well past 8 pm—the owner made us feel right at home. Even though it was late, he welcomed us to his property with warmth and kindness, which set the tone for the entire stay. The site boasts several extra offerings like coffee, pizza, and more, which sound great on paper, but the real magic happens when you’re there. One of the highlights of our trip was when the owner stopped by our campsite before we left and handed us a refreshing cup of iced cold coffee—perfect for the hot, sunny day. It's those little touches that really make the experience stand out. The property itself is nothing short of incredible. There are beautiful hiking trails that lead you to a serene creek and a stunning waterfall, creating that perfect "lost in the woods" vibe. If you're looking to unwind and reconnect with nature, this place is an absolute gem. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a peaceful and memorable camping experience!

Private site with a great vista. The escapement track was a good activity to see the sights and the rest of the property. Some really beautiful and secluded bush land.

Tree Fern Terrace
Peaceful
Had a lovely 1 night stay at Tree Fern Terrace. It was very secluded and peaceful. Just the sound of the forest. Lana (the dog) is just the best. She’s so happy and loved and stayed with me the whole time I was there. She’s just gorgeous. Chemical toilet was great and kept neat and tidy. The additional of the boards was handy as it gave a more level surface although the site is really flat anyway. Plenty of wood to gather for the fire. I had a little walk down to the waterfall but didn’t explore the whole property although Ian mentioned it’s a 20min ish loop. Got a couple of leaches from there but just keep your trousers tucked into your sock and with boots, you’ll be fine. The site itself is mainly dirt so didn’t get any from there. As per the notes of the sight, you need AWD / some clearance to get in and out comfortably but Ian also offered to get you there with his car / tractor if required. There’s a few other site being created in the future and you can tell the current ones have been well thought out by all the details provided. Look forward to staying there again soon.
