Lovingly developed for 15 years as a mindful refuge & wildlife corridor by Victoria, a filmmaker/permaculture designer, the property was completely destroyed in 2018. Thus the mega bushfire cycle began impacting forever most of NSW's flora, fauna & people. Nature ultimately prevails & slowly the untamed terrain is healing. After studying at RMIT School of Architecture & Design for three years with the intention to design tiny living house systems better suited for harsh environments, Victoria has returned. Slowly she rebuilds a humble off-grid existence from the burnt-out bus fusing knowledge of building design with her food forests/aquaponics passion, keen to create an environmentally connected experience to share with like-minded others. By staying you are helping her & all the wild things emerge from the ashes. Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No flies on us this winter... Book a stay until the end of July 2023 & get 25% off! Keep coming back
This was my 2nd camping trip to the Monestary of 11 strings & was just as enjoyable as my first trip. I explored a lot more on this trip. Hiking down to the river getting a fire going, enjoying lunch & a coffee while watching the river flowing past was a highlight. I met Victoria on the way to the river at the Magic Bus. We had a great chat over tea, & probably would have talked till nightfall if we did not have other places to be that day. I absolutely loved the river & will be back again to do backpacking & camp along the river for a few days (or more). Probably will be for more as so much to explore, & simply enjoy the serene bush environment.

3 - BUDDHA TREE VIEW
Had a great time camping at Monastery of 11 Strings. We ended up staying at site #1 (rainbow tree) as there was some flooding on the road to site #3 (buddha tree view). Victoria was a great host - very communicative, and we would happily stay here again. We met on our hike down to the creek and it was nice to have a chat. You can tell she's very passionate about caring for the land and giving guests a great experience. There are unsealed roads on the way in but we managed in a very fully packed Honda Jazz, even during a particularly rainy period of May. Not easy, but manageable. The hike down to the creek and back was a bit challenging but a nice walk, lots of changes in climate and scenery, and the creek itself was beautiful, lots of water flowing with the all the rain. Recovering bushland is a nice sight to see after the bushfires in 2018. Overall, a great trip not too far from Sydney.

1 - RAINBOW TREE
I loved it - unfortunately had to leave early because of the weather and my little Kia rio would have made it out of the dirt road alive. Will definitely be making the most of this little gem in the drier months.

10/10 would do again
Victoria's land was absolutely beautiful! The sites were close enough to walk between but provided plenty of privacy which was amazing! We went down in a lancer 2WD but I'd heavily suggest taking a 4WD as some areas in the dirt road were ticky to navigate!
