Young Macdonald’s Farm is 100 acres in the Shoalhaven region on the NSW South Coast. It’s a family farm that was historically dairy-based but is moving to regenerative agriculture. Your hosts are Mac and his parents, Gina and Shawn. The property is at the base of Brown’s Mountain, 15 mins from Nowra and the Shoalhaven River, 30 mins from beaches, 15 mins from Berry, and 20 mins from Kangaroo Valley. It boasts private and secluded spaces for camping, two creeks, and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We want to share the farm experience and encourage you to be a part of our adventure as we begin this new chapter of a six-generation family farm on traditional Wodi Wodi land.

1. Up the Hill
A break from life, up the hill
Up the hill was one of the most picturesque stays I’ve had, surrounded by nature and views, it was very unique. We were visited by a variety of bird life, a family of goats and a wombat on dusk, couldn’t be happier. On arrival we met Shawn and Gina who happily showed us to our campsite, we were invited down in the afternoon to feed some animals and take a tour around the farm in Shawn’s off-road ATV which was unexpected but loads of fun, it gave us an idea of how big this farm really is, plus the plans to add extra secluded campsites is something to look forward to. The history of the farm and where the name came from will touch your heart, you will have to stay here to fully grasp it. Thank you Shawn, Gina and Mac for such an amazing time, the Mrs is already asking when we are coming back, so we will see you soon! Many thanks 🙏

Brilliant spot, we had such a great time in a swag under the stars. Consider checking out the paddock past the creek as well, some really lovely options!

1. Up the Hill
Quiet foresty escape
Beautiful spot - we had a great time camping here. “up on the hill” was a secluded site which had a relatively steep but short entrance. The site had plenty of area to set camp and was gently sloped. Felt very secluded and could not hear the neighbouring campers so nice for a quiet escape. Plenty of area on the property to explore. To top it off, Shawn and Gina were lovely hosts! Highly recommend.
