Mypolonga is a small, diverse rural community (we won the Ag Town of the Year Award in 2022) between Murray Bridge and Mannum on the Murray River, with lots of birdlife.
About 15 minutes up the road is Mannum Waterfalls - a beautiful place for enjoying nature, walking, climbing, and paddling in the rock pools. And, for interstate visitors, we are about an hour and a quarter from Victor Harbour, Adelaide, or the Barossa Valley.
At Mypolonga Sunshine, I offer The Old Stone Dairy, a building that is over 100 years old and has been converted into a comfortable space to rest up for a night or several. It's not a luxury destination, but has a historic charm, and provides a farm-stay style experience.
The property is 7 acres, and there are 3 horses, 2 dogs and 10 chooks also residing here.
Dogs and other pets are welcome - you are even welcome to bring your own horse. We have a yard available for your horse, at a small additional cost per night (please add to booking via Extras). The Stone Dairy has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was built in 1916 and was renovated to accommodate visitors about 20 years ago - it is a work in progress.
There is one bedroom, with a double bed and two singles. All linen is included.
The lounge area has large TV and wifi access, a dart board and hookey set. In the bedroom there is a small tv which can be turned to face either the double bed or the 2 single beds. There is also a bathroom with a shower and toilet.
The kitchen includes all your basic cooking equipment, including all cutlery/crockery, electric frypan, hotplates, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.
Behind the dairy is a pretty fenced area where you are welcome to let your dog off its lead to have a runaround.
There is also a yard and loose box area for a horse or other large pets.
The property was certified organic until this year when I decided I couldn't justify the annual cost of certification as I no longer grow produce - though I still thoroughly believe in the organic way of life and use no herbicides or pesticides.
Mypolonga is right on the Murray River and it is a popular area for swimming, fishing and other water sports.
