Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Just a short turn off from the Great Eastern Drive between Triabunna and Swansea, with easy access to Maria Island and Freycinet National Park, Kanyini Camp is a beautiful and serene piece of land backing on Butlers Ridge Nature reserve with sweeping country views. We are one of only a few farms on a no through road and offer a unique experience of peace and serenity while being close to some of the major attractions the East Coast of Tasmania has to offer. We are located only a 10 minutes drive to one of the most beautiful (secret) beaches in Tasmania and 15 minutes drive to Triabunna where the ferry departs for Maria Island. We live on site (a few acres away across the rivulet) and are delighted to offer 10 opportunities for self-contained campers to camp on our private land and share our passion for the area. This is a leave no trace property that suits self-contained campers who bring everything they need and remove everything they bring. Well behaved dogs and humans are all welcome. We are farmers and this property is where we live and work. Please respect our requirement for self-contained campers only. This includes caravans and campervans with toilets on board. If you have a camper trailer with portable ensuite tent and toilet, please contact us PRIOR to making the booking. Very easy to find & to access, including easy turn around area for 2WD vehicles, camper trailers, campervan and caravans.PLEASE NOTE - CHRISTMAS AND NYE. Camp open for the Christmas and New Year holiday period but we won’t accept bookings without prior arrangement thank you. A tranquil paddock at the feet of a mountain range with sweeping country views and a secret beach less then 10 minutes drive. You can have it all at Kanyini Camp. This campsite for self-contained campers is still the best kept secret of the East Coast and with a bit of luck, you will have it for yourselves. Previous guests describe their stay at Kanyini Camp as a peaceful and serene experience and keep coming back. From there, you can explore the best this part of the world has to offer. Tasmanian's jewel Maria Island, award winner fish and chips van in nearby seaside village Triabunna, many walks and local beaches; all a short drive away. We are a French Australian couple and love meeting new people. We chose to settle in this part of the world after living on the road traveling around Australia in an expedition truck for 3 years and we are so happy to be able to give back, share our local knowledge and answer any question you may have.  BYO firewood and enjoy a campfire under the stars while spotting some wallabies and maybe even the famous Tasmanian devil. In summer, please check the website before arrival and respect the fire ban if in effect. We have no facility to offer other than nature, peace of mind that you won't be disturbed and our hospitality. We Only Accept Self-Contained vehicles with toilets, NO tents or swags sorry. We are farmers and this property is where we live and work. Please respect our requirement for self-contained campers only. This includes caravans and campervans with toilets on board. If you have a camper trailer with a portable ensuite tent and toilet, please contact us PRIOR to making the booking.

Peace & Serenity Under The Milkyway
Camping under the stars.
We enjoyed our time at Kanyini Camp, relaxed and went to nearby beaches. Very quiet, heard the birds and saw heaps of wallabies in nearby paddocks. Directions to the property were spot on! Sooo peaceful and we enjoyed our stay. Hosts checked in via text to make sure we were ok and settled. Paddock was cleared, level ground and camp fires supplied.

Fabulous spot to camp or lay over whilst exploring the Eastcoast. Flat spots where you can just pull up and enjoy the serenity of the peace and quiet. Host Florence is great, gives very clear and precise instructions on where to find hip camp and also offers directions to many of the sights, places and wine/food options for you to experience. We have stayed at many hip camps now and Florence ticks all the boxes for one of the best. Keep up the great work guys :)

A lovely last minute find…
Such a lovely peaceful place to stay. A nice big paddock with a pretty view. Florence was so helpful and tipped me off that I’d be able to see the Aurora that evening…. It was magical! A great place to stop and rest on my way north. Thank you for having me.
