I have a 5-acre property 14 kilometres outside the city of Mildura, just down the highway at Red Cliffs, Victoria. I'm on the ridge, overlooking grapevines and orchards, not far from the local shops or the great fishing spots. It's away from the hustle and bustle, where we wake up to the birds, not cars and trucks.
Our night sky boasts 5 trillion stars with no city lights and smog to get in the way. Privacy is key.Set yourself up and have your private space; you may have a small fire pit, a shower a short walk to the toilet. I'm still adding to this campsite, but you will have power, water, some lighting to fill drums with, and access to a tank of clean drinking water. Additionally, there will be a table, chairs, and a BBQ. Please ensure you take your rubbish with you.
Red Cliffs is named after the beautiful Red Cliffs just up the road that make up the banks of the Mighty Murray River, where the fishing is outstanding, pulling in Cod and Yellow Fin perfect for the barbecue. Big Lizzy is also on the highway; you need to stop and listen to her story. Then there's the "spiders web" drive, (a bending road that will take you to Mildura ) or Woodies Gem Shop, a great little place with a maze for the kids. Red Cliffs town is a superb little town with lots of great food options, two supermarkets just 2 km away. However, the very best part of this location is the birds and the night sky, the peaceful serenity that only the outback can offer without being miles away from things you might need or like to do.
