Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Blackwood National Park adventure.
Hikers and mountain bikers can escape the beaten track at this remote outback park.
Taking its name from the blackwood acacia forests that blanket its hillsides, Blackwood National Park has short walks and bike circuits for intrepid travellers. Escape the crowds in this remote park to hike through rocky gorges and along dense forest trails. Follow the scenic Creek Walk, enjoy mountain biking along the 17-kilometre firebreak, then stop for a picnic by the waterfront. Camping isn’t permitted, but campers and caravanners can stay at Belyando Crossing, just a short drive away.
The best time for hiking and outdoor activities in Blackwood National Park is during the dry season (April through September) when the average daytime temperature is 27ºC (80ºF). Access is sometimes limited during the wet season (October through March), when trails can become water-logged, and temperatures can soar as high as 40ºC (104ºF). If you visit during this time, plan your trip according to the weather forecast and time activities for the early morning.
