Forager Hill Farm on Hayward Lake

3 sites · Lodging5 acres · Mission, BC
Our 5 acre forested farm backs onto Hayward Lake and has the Stave River at the front of the property. Our farm has ducks, chickens, rabbits, and a collection of cats. There are wild berry bushes throughout the property and the surrounding forest. Lake access is private (people could hike in or canoe up, but normally we have it to ourselves) and the lake itself is a great spot for wildlife watching (beavers, deer, bats, fish, bears, owls, eagles, osprey etc.). The Stave River in the front of the property offers a more sunny spot for swimming and fishing. The Hayward Reservoir Trail circumnavigates the whole lake and the trail entrance is a 5 minute walk from the cabin. The cabin site includes a picnic table and outhouse. We provide fresh spring water and campfire wood can be supplied ($10 a bundle). The cabin is insulated and can be heated with the wood stove so it is suitable for use all year.

*Charming Vintage RV*Bbq*Wineries*

1 site · Lodging5 acres · Abbotsford, BC
Come unwind in Lucinda the Bigfoot, located in the luscious urban-countryside of the Fraser Valley. Tastefully decorated and thoughtfully furnished, Lucinda is a small 1984 Bigfoot fiberglass trailer, her updated interior nods graciously at her charming, vintage past. Relax in lawn chairs under an airy canopy, light the fire bowl, and listen to the singing birds in the morning and peeping frogs at night. Lucinda is conveniently located in Abbotsford near three famous Mt Lehman area wineries, Mission Bridge, great walking trails and mountain hikes, fantastic Mt Baker view, berry picking, boutique shopping, and the Abbotsford airport. Lucinda features all the comforts of home snugly assembled in one cozy room. Great for a quick stop, weekend stay, or fun alternative place to have a break. Lucinda has a toaster, tea kettle, pots, cast-iron pan, and all your basic kitchen needs. Feel free to use the stove-top to heat something up or call in a meal with SkipTheDishes or DoorDash. In need of a coffee fix? If you are feeling organic, help yourself to local whole beans, or we have ground coffee for a speedier option. Savour it in genuine vintage Denby stoneware! Enjoy our comfortable mattress, pillows, and high-quality linens. Towels, toiletries, and a clothes steamer are provided for your convenience. You can adjust the thermostat to your liking, and the MaxxFan air vent works like an A/C on summer nights to keep you comfortable. Lucinda has a small table for meals or working on your laptop. The bed is a small full-size bed and can accommodate one adult or two slender adults who like to be close together 😉. You can stretch out comfortably at a length of 6’3”. Due to the size of the trailer, it may not be suitable for children. There is not currently a TV, but you will have access to WiFi, so be sure to bring your laptop to cuddle up and watch your favorite shows or movies in bed! The bathroom is, frankly, a fairy-sized wet room – Lucinda is economical like that. It will give you a decent shower though and we provide bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The toilet is flushable, and we provide RV toilet paper that is made specifically for our RV plumbing system. The water heater works well and heats up pretty quickly. However, it is a standard RV water heater which means you'll have about 5-6 minutes of hot water until it heats up again. The shower head has a stop button to control water usage while you are showering. Lastly, please do not be surprised that Lucinda is small; she is small. However, we find her to be a comfortable resting place. -Guest access- You may use the outdoor areas located directly outside of the RV but please respect the area around the adjacent private residence as off limits.

Glamping near Coquitlam with a private bathroom guide

Overview

Oceanic climates and mountains blocking arctic air make Coquitlam a warm region by Canadian standards—perfect for outdoor recreation and camping. Remnants of the area’s logging industry lead campers into provincial parks like Pinecone Burke Provincial Park and Colony Farm Regional Park for hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and swimming year-round. Winter activities include backcountry skiing and snowshoeing along rivers, lakes, and creeks. Camping opportunities are bountiful for tent campers, RVers, and glamping fans, who will find their home-away-from-home amid mountains and lakes. Campsites range from primitive to modern—some with hookups, concrete pads, or wifi, and all surrounded by an abundance of natural splendor.

Where to go

Pinecone Burke Provincial Park

Up the old logging roads of Burke Mountain, Pinecone Burke Provincial Park offers opportunities for hiking and e-biking across natural trails or swimming and boating in Pitt Lake and Widgeon Creek. In the winter, try backcountry cross-country skiing or snowshoeing across the park. The only kind of camping allowed is primitive wilderness camping, so adventurous campers must remember to bring everything in (including their own water) and haul everything out. Pinecone Burke campers should also prepare for winter conditions without the use of campfires, which are prohibited. The park features marine access for boat-in-boat-out camping, hunting, and fishing with appropriate licenses.

Minnekhada Regional Park

Adjacent to Pitt-Addington marsh, Minnekhada Regional Park is a popular destination for trail hikers, birders, and wildlife viewing enthusiasts throughout the year. Campers enjoy cycling on paved roads and across Pitt River dykes. Tent campers, RVers, and glampers will find primitive campsites and modern ones with electrical hookups and water lines. Some even provide double and queen beds. Minnekhada is pet-friendly, so long as the pups are leashed and campers bring pet waste bags.

Colony Farm Regional Park

Camping near Colony Farm Regional Park gives quick access to fields, hedgerows, and wetlands to explore on foot or bike. Birding is a popular activity in the park, which hosts over 200 bird species. Take in the sights of wide open fields and towering mountains on the shores of the Coquitlam River, or ride a trusty steed through the marshes and cap the day with a picnic at the provided tables near the community gardens. Many nearby campgrounds offer waterside camping, accommodating RVers and tent campers alike with potable water, showerhouses, electrical hookups, and gravel or concrete pull-through pads. Campers with electric or hybrid vehicles in need of a charge can take advantage of the single charging station in the main parking lot, which is free to use with a two-hour time limit.

When to go

The best time to camp in Coquitlam is July or August, when average temperatures reach no higher than 23.5°C. Summer is the most popular time for visitors, so be sure to make a reservation in advance or get there early enough to snag a first-come, first-served site. Adventurous campers can brave the frigid, wet winters of Coquitlam with average highs of 5.6°C.
