Explore the Kootenays from your RV base in this bohemian community.
Situated in the mountainous eastern part of British Columbia, Nelson makes a great base for visiting the trails, waterways, and hot springs of the Kootenay Rockies by RV. If you like the outdoors, you’ll find plenty of things to keep you busy, from hiking up the nearby Pulpit Rock Trail to paddling on Kootenay Lake, located right in town. RV camping and dump stations are available at public spots in and around town, including the Kaslo Municipal Campground, the City of Nelson Campground, and Kokanee Creek Provincial Park. There are also plenty of quiet, private Hipcamps in the vicinity, many of which have only one or two sites, plus picnic tables, hot showers, and firepits. Some are set on or near Kootenay Lake, and there are loads of options in the Slocan Valley, some right by the Slocan River.
