1 night at Beach and Forest

We loved the waterfront spot and the beautiful view of the sunrise. The hosts were very hospitable when we arrived to guide us to the site and available if we needed anything. Easy drive to the site and large flat space for tents or RV camping.

Weekend Trip to Beach and Forest

If you need an escape from the every day, this is your place. Our adventure began with a ride through scenic Winter Wonderland ride in the woods via UTV. The charming cabin, all hand made by Helmut, was charming, homey and very cozy during the cold winter weekend. There are some candles and lamps provided for light and three huge jugs of water to drink and wash dishes with. The wood stove functioned perfectly, keeping us warm at night and provided perfect heat to cook on. Lots of firewood and birch bark to keep the wood stove going and plenty for a fire outside, which we thoroughly enjoyed with drinks and snacks. The outhouse is clean and scent free ;) Helmut was a very friendly host and responded quickly to messages (given that he was our ride in and out). He groomed trails all around the property which made our Xcountry ski adventure super enjoyable. The wilderness area around the property is majestic. Some trails were left un-groomed, which was perfect for snowshoeing as well. Highly recommend this off-grid getaway. While we did not want to leave, we did so with a feeling of peace and tranquillity. Thank you, Helmut for sharing your little piece of paradise with us! 🙏🏻🌲

We loved our weekend gateaway and we'll be back for sure! We spend the weekend doing fires outside, play with our dog, cook on the woodstove and even did a chocolat fondu at candle lights. This was our first experience with HipCamp and we are not dissapointed! Helmut was a wonderful host he made sure we had everything we needed and to thank him we cleaned and got is camp ready for the next one! I would recommend anyone that want to unplug and live the off grid experience to jump on this right away! Take it for 2 days! You will not regret it! Thanks again for the experience!!

Had a lovely time with my friends exploring this beautiful woods and enjoying a cozy stay at the Owl’s Nest cabin. I would give 6 stars if I could! The work being done to protect and care for this forest and its inhabitants is very inspiring.

We had an amazing week at Helmut’s cabin! the cabin itself is so lovely and has everything you need. We enjoyed walking through all the trails on the property. We will absolutely be back!

The property consists of a 6 acre lot right on the beach and an 145 acre wood lot right across the street. The beach is sandy at low tide and ideal for swimming, canoeing, bird watching, etc. The wood lot has a cabin on it and groomed walking trails. It is inhabited by a wide variety of wildlife. The property on the beach is bordered by a small brook and a variety of water fowl come to feed, rest and bathe. Nova Scotia can be seen on the horizon.

The historic barns, deep swimming pond, sugar house, and stunning woods with trails that have 2 disc golf baskets all provide ample space, entertainment and privacy for a quiet and relaxing retreat. Learn more about this land: Come join us at the Gaylin Farms – home to two friendly goats, Newfoundland ponies, a horse, Chanticler chickens, three dogs and a cat. Stay at our completely private cabin (sleeps 3 comfortably, sleeping mats/air mattresses NOT provided) isolated within the centre of a gorgeous 25-acre forest with a private groomed c. 1.5 km walking/biking trail. The cabin is a 5-minute walk from the Trans Canada RailTrail which grants easy access for longer bike rides, runs, hikes, and four-wheeler adventures. You’ll walk through a horse pasture and a cow pasture on your way to the cabin. There is a large farm pond (10ft deep) on the property for swimming. Enjoy access to locally-sourced food, firewood (at a small fee) drinking water, a private firepit, gas BBQ (bring your own gas!), and our old-fashioned wood-fired cook stove. There is no electricity or running water (but we provide ample drinking water) and there are solar panels so you may charge your devices or have a light at night. Bring your pets and enjoy a private retreat. The max capacity of the cabin is three people. If you come with two or three additional friends or children, there is a tent site available for an additional fee. An outhouse with double-duty bag and second luggable loo are available for all guests. Minimum stay: 2 nights. NEW ADDITION: A new room, a small annex, has been constructed to allow for downstairs sleeping and writing area. It is fully insulated with a wood stove so this area may be used year round. The annex gives one a deeper feeling of being a part of the woods.
