Pine the Sky

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents8 acres · Southgate, ON
This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River. -RV Spot: With electric hook up ideal for RVs 30 feet and under -a connection to the organization, 'Black Folks Camp Too'! Welcoming to all!!!!! So much to see and do in the area!

Edges Sideroad Springs

6 sites · Lodging, Tents65 acres · West Grey, ON
We have owned the property for 19 years. The camping area was once a gravel pit which was rehabilitated in 2020. There is agricultural land that is farmed in the summer as well we host bees at that back of the property . A unique feature on the property is a natural spring that bubbles up and feeds the two streams on the property.

A perfect place to escape and rejuvenate the soul! Our beautiful 39-acre property consists of hard and softwood forests, open meadows for activities, and flat and grassy fields. Whether you're camping with your family or with a group of friends, this remote and private property is the perfect destination for a vacation retreat. There are plenty of trails surrounding the property where one can enjoy connecting with the sights and sounds of nature. Plenty of different bird species, rabbits, deer and wild turkeys abound and often on summer nights around the campfire you can hear the howl of the coyotes. This is a beautiful, tranquil piece of paradise, very private and fantastic for stargazing. We also have a couple goats, pot bellied pigs and chickens on the property. Guests can help themselves to the farm fresh eggs when on site camping. Whether you’re bringing an RV or a tent, we have the perfect campsite for you! Heavens Acres

2 sites · Lodging100 acres · Dornoch, ON
Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave.

A Piece of Heaven

2 sites · Tents50 acres · Hanover, ON
A piece of heaven is what awaits you here. If you're looking for privacy your search is over. Imagine having your own island you reach by walking across the 15 metre covered bridge with a few areas to set up your tent(s) from where you'll fall asleep listening to the sound of the spring flowing into the pond, what bliss. The other site has a large rectangular pond of its own to ensure everyone has privacy. Your drinking water comes from Mother Nature, not a well, true spring water that's icy cold and so refreshing. The property is mostly 50 yr old pine trees with a couple walking trails throughout. There are two spring fed ponds which makes them revitalizing on a hot day when you go for a swim. We are located 10 minutes away from the town of Hanover and the Allan Park Conservation is right beside us and has numerous walking and off road bicycling trails. The Saugeen River is 5 minutes away which you can kayak or tube down, too much fun that is. Our property offers beautiful scenery, virtual privacy, you see glimpses of our home, peace and tranquility with the backdrop of Mother Nature to be heard, geese, wild turkeys, deer, lots of songbirds, coyotes and oh yes, our big friendly lovable mutt Walker and the two new dogs who ate getting loveable, Bella and Hunter. The sunsets can be spectacular and later the stars twinkle above and maybe you'll even see a satellite high above while you're stargazing. Each site has a table (you'll need to bring lawn chairs), firepit with a cooking grill, and a supply of wood you'll have to purchase from us upon arrival, as we are a forestry managed property. An outhouse is a pleasant walk within minutes of the site. Water for dishes and general washing can just be taken from the pond (DO NOT DRINK) Not that it would kill you, lol. Ray will keep you supplied with fresh spring water for drinking. Also, the covered bridge is there if, HEAVEN FORBID, it rains, where you can seek coverage and watch and listen to it fall. New to this site is a solar powered string of 300 lights, two single person floats, and a hammock for your added enjoyment. There are numerous things to do within a 15 minute drive. A couple dams, 2 conservation parks, drive-in theatre, casino, horse racing, small stock car racing track (great for young kids), two local breweries, a busy local butcher and the Saugeen River. With more destinations as you move outward. We promise you won't be disappointed and can't wait to share our piece of Heaven with you. TAKE NOTE You will be charged $500 per bag/item of refuse you leave behind. WE DO NOT HAVE GARBAGE PICKUP, besides which you are supposed to leave the site as you found it. CANCELATIONS: IF you cancel within two weeks of your arrival date, your money will NOT be refunded nor will you be able to change the date. We are sorry for this, but we only have a short season, and you'll be using up double the time you booked for. Terry and Ray P.S. Should you wish to come during off season please get in touch and if it's feasible we'll open up.

Forest camping near Sauble Beach guide

Overview

On the Bruce Peninsula and the shores of Lake Huron sits the 11-km Sauble Beach—one of the longest freshwater beaches in Ontario. Camp here in August to experience the iconic Sandfest, an annual sandcastle contest with live music and a classic car show, or head to Sauble Falls Provincial Park for camping and marine activities. The nearby village of Tobermory offers world-renowned scuba diving, while hikers should hit the Bruce Trail winding up through the Niagara Escarpment. Area camping options include waterfront or forest tent campsites, RV sites, and cabins.

Where to go

Sauble Falls Provincial Park

Sauble Falls Provincial Park is a must-see for nonstop waterfall fun—and a short 5-minute drive from Sauble Beach. Canoeing and fishing are main draws, and in spring or fall, Chinook salmon and rainbow trout migrate to their spawning grounds. Hipcampers can access kayak rentals, canoe rentals, and stand-up paddleboard rentals to explore the waterways. Although only open from late April through October, the park’s 154 campsites include tent campsites and RV sites.

Tobermory

Part of two national parks, Tobermory offers even more aquatic excitement. For a day of cliff jumping, cave exploring, and suntanning, head to The Grotto and Halfway Log Dump. Hipcampers will find yurt camping options here as well as rugged backcountry campsites. (The Fathom Five National Marine Park also contains over 20 historic shipwrecks.) Nearby Cyprus Lake is a popular choice for RV camping, but tent campsites with water taps, flush toilets, shower facilities, fire pits, and picnic tables are abundant, too. Camping reservations are required from May through October.

Bruce’s Caves

Bruce’s Caves make up a stretch of the Niagara Escarpment carved out by waves 7,000 years ago. Walk the 2.9-kilometre path to view the caves, or go farther on the Bruce Trail, an 840-kilometre route with stunning views of the escarpment and forest. Stop at the picnic shelter for lunch and a bathroom break before heading out into the wilderness—just keep dogs on leash. Snag a day parking pass ahead of time to jump into the fun.

When to go

The best time to visit Sauble Beach is from spring through fall (April to October) when fish migrate at Sauble Falls. For water activities, stay during the height of summer—July and August. Crowds will be big, so it’s best to plan ahead with a reservation. Hotspots are less populated after Labour Day in September and before the Victoria Day long weekend in May. Meanwhile, winters bring freezing temperatures and snow.
