Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Port Burwell Provincial Park adventure.
Port Burwell Provincial Park is a favourite of families and bird watchers.
Port Burwell Provincial Park prides itself on being an exceptionally family-friendly destination. The park offers comfort stations and laundry facilities at all three campgrounds, a large sandy beach, a playground, an interpretive center, and a summertime children’s program. It’s also an excellent destination for nature lovers with activities like hiking, windsurfing on Lake Erie, and birding—Port Burwell is one of the best spots in the region for bird watching. Hawks, eagles, and vultures are spotted regularly, and the park’s bird checklist is at 232 species.
Port Burwell Provincial Park is open from the second week of May until the second week in October. This region is noted for being exceptionally warm, so you can expect temperate conditions even in the shoulder season (but you should still research overnight temperatures to ensure you have the right supplies on hand). Like most provincial parks, Port Burwell is busiest during holidays and summer weekends. From the beginning of July to the first weekend in September, the park offers a Discovery Drop-in program for kids. While the park is gated in winter, visitors can drop in to hike, ski, and snowshoe.
