Learn more about this land: Camp on the edge of Lake Huron, the perfect base for all your activities! Winter guests welcome, small fee for increased hydro usage during the cold weather. VANS, TRAILERS and RV'S up to 28 feet are welcome. We provide a level parking spot with a 50/30/15 amp electrical and water hook up. Pets welcome! Both wi-fi and cell reception on-site. CYCLISTS As a former long distance cyclist we are happy to provide cycle tourists a spot to pitch a tent. No cooking facilities at this time. We have gorgeous views from our rear lawn year-round for our guests to enjoy.  In the summer there is ample opportunity for kayaking, hiking, cycling in the area. We are in a great location and you can walk to town for supplies or a bite to eat. We also have ecofriendly, Made in Canada supplies for sale on site if you need laundry, dishwashing or personal care supplies. You can view our products at RestoreThroughNature.ca. About

The Sault Ste. Marie Canal, built in 1895, was the world’s longest lock, the first to operate using electricity and the last link in an all-Canadian navigational chain from the Atlantic to Lake Superior. Today the Canal, used by recreational craft, is a great spot for boat-watching and picnics - but you can do more than watch! Let a Parks Canada interpreter/guide introduce you to the Canal’s fascinating history.

When to go

The ideal time to visit the Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site is between May 15 and October 15, aligning with the lock navigation season. This period offers the full experience of the site's activities and interpretive programs. Outside of these months, the visitor centre welcomes guests from June to October, providing a chance to learn about the site's history and significance.
