Off-leash friendly

We welcome nature lovers to our raw land outside the town of Duncan on southern Vancouver Island near Lake Cowichan. Come and meet our famous Sasquatch "Sassy" the Guardian and get your picture taken while you stay. This is no-frills camping with no power or water hook-ups, but we do have a brand new outhouse and a potable water source to fill your containers. Bring your tents, your coolers, your pets, and your vehicles right up to the site, and wake up surrounded by trees. The property sits near the Cowichan River, and a variety of activities are available including fishing, biking, off-roading, hiking, swimming, and paddling. With drive-up parking available at the property, you can bring everything you need to be comfortable in the woods without having to hike in and out. Enjoy the proximity to the shops and restaurants of Duncan while still getting an off-grid camping experience. Firewood is available for purchase. Duncan is located midway between Nanaimo to the north and Victoria to the south, and there are many nearby scenic spots along the Cowichan River for outdoor activities. In town, Rotary Park is a great choice for kids and dogs; heading west out of town, you can find hiking, swimming, kayaking, picnic areas, and more at Sandy Pool Regional Park, Glenora Riverside Park, and Cowichan River Provincial Park, about 15 kilometres west of Duncan. For a more cultural look at the area, take a tour of Duncan’s renowned collection of totem poles. Firewood is available for purchase when fires are allowed.

Site 1
The camp sites 1 and 2 were nice and close to each other because we were camping with friends. Site 1 was nothing special. Just a cleared spot of land that wasn’t flattened or levelled very well and didn’t have a picnic table. Site 2 was great with a flatter section of ground and a very nice picnic table. It feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere but only 15 minutes from Duncan. Definitely pricey for a campsite but saved us money from spending on an Airbnb or hotel. Also Shari was lovely to communicate with.

Sasquatch the Guardian Campsite
What a wonderful and rugged getaway- so close to Duncan yet such a peaceful getaway in the forest. We saw Owls in their nest and a herd of Elk in the morning. Guy and his family were warm and welcoming hosts. Would highly recommend!

Well laid out and the most beautiful outhouse I've ever seen in my life. Host was very helpful and friendly. Site was a bit rocky for tents but doable. Sites 1 & 2 are very close together so if you have a bigger group those would be the two to get. Very quiet and peaceful even though it's not far from town.

A quiet and private stay! Flat tent spot and a great picnic table. A bit of a rough road to get to the site, but would be doable in most vehicles. Kind of tricky to see the Sasquatch sculpture marking the entrance, so keep your eyes peeled!!

Great campsite!!
This location is very beautiful, with well organized locations and (I'm pretty sure) seems like hand crafted picnik tables. They are gorgeous and spacious tables. You can tell Guy really cares about what he is creating. The outhouse is clean and well placed. It's a quiet, serene area in the forest. We even got to see an Elk family travel past the campsite! I would 200% return to this campsite. Guy is a great host and very quick to respond. Thank you for sharing your land, Guy!🥰
