Back Forty Vineyards

3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents40 acres · Peachland, BC
Come camp on a 40-acre parcel backing onto crown land mountains and wake up in front of 10 acres of vineyard and a view of Okanagan Lake! There is a small cabin and two camp sites to choose from. Outhouse on the property, which is just a pit toilet. It is a working farm so will likely have various equipment around at times as well as workers at certain times of the year. You’ll likely meet our very friendly and very energetic Bernedoodle, Bernie. If you prefer to keep him out of your campsite just let us know and we can keep him closer. Otherwise, he thinks he has the run of the place! Please check to see if campfires are allowed (live in a high-risk fire zone) and firewood is available with an extra charge. If you need anything to better enjoy your stay, just let us know! Our property is located in Peachland, BC. Positioned midway between Kelowna and Pentiction, it is the perfect location to draw from both population centres and is well-positioned to act as a hub for popular wine and other agri-tourism activities. Peachland is within easy reach of over 200 estate wineries and microbreweries.

Hidden Creek Rabbit Farm

6 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents20 acres · Merritt, BC
See you in 2025! we unfortunately learned last year that folks could not get up our steeper dri\/eway after the frost and snow started. As we are already getting below freezing temperatures so will be draining our trailers now so no more camping till the spring thaw. yet if you think you could get here w/your own equipment send us a shout and we will try to accommodate you :o] We are 8 minutes north east of PRINCETON BC, or an hour south of Aspen Grove BC. Define ourselves as a Christian couple and a rabbit farm, that would like to share our area with people who enjoy getting into the forest. We do not have dogs, cats or other outside pets so we frequently see deer grazing on our landings. Our property is located 28 Km off the main Hwy 5A on a highways maintained gravel road, some potholes exist! Though we have 3 camping options to choose from, we will block off 2 so whomever books first has the entire site to themselves- and can make check in and check out times flexible. Camping options are a larger 24 ' Rv for families or groups that sleeps up to 6/ a smaller 22' RV trailer for singles or couples sleeps 3. In addition to the RV we have on grid and an off grid areas for tenting, your RV's or van-life if preferred. Our driveway climbs up 100 meters off Summers Cr Rd and is quite secluded. The camping area is like a triangle- a narrow driveway over our creek that opens to a landing 100 feet long and 50 feet wide at the opposite end. Beyond the landing we are all hills and valleys with LOTS of rocky areas to explore, the terrain is uneven so bring sturdy hiking boots. Our small Hidden Creek runs through the property and you can hear it at night. We have also developed 2 hiking trails -one 3 km and one 9 km, both follow our creek to the top of our mountain- that you can explore independently or join a guided hike. After your hike enjoy a soak in our mineral filled hot tub- yet please no soaps or shampoos- hot tubs are not like a Jacuzzi. A Jacuzzi might tolerate such chemicals and just fill up with fun bubbles, but hot tubs are different. The motors and filters might get clogged and ruin the tub. We fill the tub with spring water from our creek and we only add Epson salts. We also have a few older bikes you can use to ride to the beautiful 7 km long Missezula lake, 3 kms north. Or rent our 16' canoe/ life jackets included/ to go out on the lake. Missezula Lake is one of our favorite summer places to cool off! Princeton area is renown for Copper Mining and we have many green rocks on the ground everywhere that are copper! We have been told there are also a few old mining caves on, or above our property, we have so far located one.

The best camping near Otter Lake Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

Beneath the canyons and streams of the Cascade Mountains, Otter Lake Provincial Park is set on the lake in a relatively isolated part of British Columbia, 320 kilometres (200 miles) east of Vancouver, and about 150 kilometres (93 miles) from Kelowna or Penticton in the Okanagan Valley. In a forest of Douglas fir, the 45 vehicle-accessible campsites at the sole campground accommodate RVs and tents, all within a short walk of the lake, where you can paddle, fish (primarily for trout), or swim. While you can take a dip in the campground’s small swimming area, the park’s separate day-use area in Tulameen, five kilomet54e (three miles) south of the campground, has a more appealing sandy beach, as well as picnic tables where you can take a break when you come out of the water.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Reservations are recommended for camping at Otter Lake Provincial Park. Book your site online up to four months in advance at BC Parks’ Discover Camping website.
  2. About half the Otter Lake sites can be reserved during most of the park’s May-to-September season. The remainder are first-come, first-served from May through mid-June and again after Labour Day in September, and reservable for the rest of the park’s summer season. If you don’t have a reservation, try to arrive in the morning for the best chance of nabbing a campsite.

When to go

Camping season at Otter Lake Provincial Park runs from late May through late September. The weather is usually warm and dry, although you may have a bit more rain in May and June than later in the summer. It can get quite hot in July and August, so stay hydrated and protect yourself from the sun. As in many British Columbia parks, summer weekends and holidays are busiest, so try Sunday through Thursday if you’re having trouble booking a campsite. Otter Lake’s gates are closed in the off-season, and water and other services aren’t available, but, weather permitting, it’s possible to walk into the park through winter.

Know before you go

  • There’s a grocery store in Princeton, 33 kilometres (20 miles) southeast of Otter Lake Provincial Park. For other supplies, or a broader selection, do your shopping in the Vancouver area if you’re coming from the west, or in the Okanagan if arriving from the east.
  • The Otter Lake campground has flush toilets, pit toilets, and drinking water taps, but no showers.
  • A section of the Kettle Valley Railway, a multi-use hiking and cycling path that’s part of Canada’s Great Trail, passes near the park, across the lake from the Otter Lake Campground.
