We are dog friendly and request that dogs remain under their owner's control at all times and on leash. We do not allow campfires as our home burned down last year in the McDougal Creek fire as well as a lot of the neighbourhood so we don’t allow any fires or smoking cigarettes on the property. We will be building our new home during the summer but the build is a bit away from where the sites are so it shouldn’t be an issue. But this is forwarded as we know that this is a priority for us as so we won’t stop building even if we have campers, so we just want everyone to know this in advance! Shuswap River Oasis

Guests will get to wake up to the sounds of the Shuswap River flowing right outside their campsite. Sandy shaded kids play area with a kids swing, 2 person snowboard swing and a trampoline. Launch your floaties and spend the afternoon floating down the picturesque river, but please bear in mind the river conditions vary throughout the year. The 8KM river float is an intermediate level float and may not be suitable for young kids as there is a section that needs to be walked to avoid a dangerous area. There is other options for shorter floats upstream and end at our property. Please ask us for more details. We also have a field to ride any quads or dirt-bikes around. Its very basic riding conditions, but still fun for young kids! As well there is lots to see in the area including 2 waterfalls and Mable lake provincial park all within an hour drive. Tangle Wood

Nestled in the woods, our site provides a shady escape from the 30-40 degrees Celcius summer Okanagan heat. Cross the bridge into your own private Oasis. Trees are shelter and homes to various birds. Pitch your tent in an open space at the base of the mountain. Relax on the deck of our Cottage or in the hammock and take in the fresh air whilst listening to the song birds. Located off Highway 6, a 10 minute drive to colourful Kalamalka Lake which boasts of sandy beaches and gorgeous hikes, and a 6 minute drive to beautiful Lavington Park with a playground, off leash dog park and free public swimming pool access during July and August. Walk down the path to your own private creek access, bring a book and relax in a chair by the water and take a dip in the refreshing creek. Note: This site is not accessible by car. You will need to park in front of the bridge, wagons are provided. If lots of rain is forecasted please bring tarps, there are plenty of trees nearby to devote too. There is a powered covered cooking/eating area. You may use the bbq and gas burners at no charge. Drinking and potable water is provided. This site uses a composting toilet with bags that will need to be removed after use and disposed in the appropriate location.

About

The 6,092-hectare Silver Star Provincial Park surrounds (but doesn’t include) Silver Star Mountain Resort, a winter hot spot. The park is home to the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club and has over 50 kilometres of easy, intermediate, and advanced ski trails, as well as snowshoeing and snowmobile trails. In summer, the same trails double as hiking routes. With no camping options, the park is only open to day-use visitors. Silver Star Provincial Park is the traditional territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation and the Splatsin First Nation.

When to go

Silver Star Provincial Park is open year-round, while the main snow season is from November through April. Hiking is possible from July to mid-September, but outside of those months, the trails may be muddy or impassable.

Know before you go

Visitors need to pack in and out everything they need, including water.
In winter, the park offers day-use warming huts and toilets.
Vernon is the nearest town at 23 kilometres away. Silver Star Mountain Resort is just five kilometres away.
The nearest provincial parks with campgrounds are Kekuli Bay Provincial Park and Ellison Provincial Park.
