Camped two nights here in a tent with my dog on our way up north, Certainty a must for nature lovers. Great trails around campsite, saw lots of birds, deer, an army of raccoons. Our second night, my dog a German Shepherd awoke me at 4 am by climbing up to me in my sleeping bag and laying his head down on my neck, I thought this was highly unusual, at that point I heard some crunching sounds outside the tent, I unzipped the window, and a very large wolf was standing there just looking straight ahead. He obviously knew I was looking at him, I reached for my flashlight and shined it on him, at this point he disappeared. I made a mistake of not putting up my trash bag, and left some dog food that my dog didn't finish. Be careful!

Only a 20 min drive from Des Moines and a great place to stay if you want to visit the local breweries. It's a quite, lush green park with concrete slabs and fire pits. We paid $14 for one night with no electricity. The bathrooms are flush toilets and there is cold running water. Beautiful birds everywhere for twitchers and owls hoots all night. All in all a nice place to stay for a night or two.
