Family-friendly farm glamping, with luxury bell tents in a glorious natural woodland setting

Kudos to the farm glamping site that tells you to 'get lost' before you've even arrived — that's confidence all right, but owners Julian and Sara White have that in spades. Get Lost in Nature is the name of the family-friendly bell-tent site on their working farm in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside — rolling fields, grazing sheep, handsome South Devon cattle, and a picturesque woodland setting for a real bit of back-to-nature glamping. If the name is unusual, so is the backstory — Julian is the former Leicester Tigers, England, and British Lions rugby player — but the 400-acre farm is no plaything and the camping is right on the button, perfect for families and nature-lovers.

The five bell tents are set on raised decking to make the most of the views and are scattered around the farm's nine-acre woodland, so there's a very private feel. With grass under your feet and wildflowers in abundance, it's all about embracing a natural life on the farm – from newborn lambs and calves in spring to the combines working the fields in autumn. Nature is ever-present — just check out the names of the tents (hare, squirrel, kite, fox, pheasant) for a roll-call of the local wildlife. Furnishings are country-rustic and fuel for the campfire is sustainably sourced, though electricity still powers the lights, your tent's included mini-fridge, and the plug sockets to charge your phone. In short, the tents are sympathetic to the natural surroundings but still prioritise your comfort.

You have your own fire pit for cooking, toasting marshmallows, and star-gazing, though if you're feeling sociable you can amble over to the central fire pit area in the woods and meet your fellow campers. There are no cooking facilities inside the tents, but there is an outdoor kitchen with a microwave, a communal fridge, hot tap, and tea and coffee-making facilities. There's also shelter, a wood-burner, bean bags, and a big table in the old converted sheep shed if the weather takes a turn for the worse. If you want a breakfast hamper or a barbecue pack, just ask — the farm is big on supporting local suppliers. As for entertainment, the kids can tumble in the woods or play on the rope swings and zip wire, and there are always animals to see and another day on the farm unfolding in front of you.

The location in this largely unheralded part of England is excellent. The nearest pub selling great food is just a country walk away, the nearest market town with a plethora of lovely coffee shops and eateries a ten-minute drive, and within half an hour there's a huge range of family-friendly attractions. But when you're lost in nature, time has a habit of slipping away as you do nothing very much at all in some extremely green and pleasant English countryside.

Hare Bell Tent - Stunning Woodland
Glamping birthday party!
A fantastic find! First time glamping for 6 children and 5 adults. The tents were all well equipped and extremely spacious. The communal spaces were quirky, clean and in-keeping with the woodland theme. The location was fabulous, close to both Market Harborough and Corby, as well as East Carlton Park, although you really did really lost in nature! A fabulous find, we are all looking to go again soon! Thank you to Julian and Sara for being attentive hosts!

Fox Bell Tent - Stunning Woodland
Simply magical
We had the most amazing holiday from start to finish. The woodland was stunning in the day and magical in the night with all the string lights around the trees. The kitchen, showers and toilets were fantastic, the shower was lovely and warm and we loved the quirkiness of the design. In the evening and at times throughout the day some brave hares would run around the woodland, we had fun trying to spot them. We also enjoyed walking down to the pond to spot the huge dragonflies and say hi to the cows. The tree swing, hammocks and games were a hit with the children too. Everything was perfect, the bell tent, the furnishings, the touches like the mini fridge, heater and hot water bottles were great. We were toasty and warm each night and didn’t need the heater. Sara and Julian were lovely hosts too. We look forward to returning with our extended family and friends.

Get Lost In Nature is a brand new site offering fancy camping within an idyllic, private woodland. It is set on a working family farm, nestled within the beautiful, rolling Leicestershire countryside. The stunning 400-acre farm is run by former Leicester Tigers, England, and British Lion rugby player, Julian White. He is passionate about the natural environment in which he works and takes great pride in his prize-winning herd of South Devon cattle and large flock of sheep. Get Lost In Nature aims to work with the environment by providing sustainable, locally sourced fuel for campfires. The woodland is a source of natural beauty so it is continually preserved and managed by planting new trees and wildflowers. Get Lost In Nature is all about relaxing and unwinding in a picturesque natural environment. With only 5 luxury bell tents dotted throughout the woodland, guests can appreciate this haven of wildlife and immerse themselves in the simpler things in life. In the springtime, guests will be able to see lambs and newly-born calves frolicking in the fields, and as it's a working farm, they will also be able to see tractors and trailers, and in the autumn, combine harvesters, working in the fields. Guests can either chill out around the huge central fire pit, enjoying local farm-reared produce or they can enjoy many of the attractions that Market Harborough (only a 10-minute drive away) and its surrounding areas have to offer. Each tent has an outdoor decking area with a table and four chairs. They are beautifully decorated with bunting and contain a king-sized and two single beds, all with luxurious cotton bedding provided. The hosts have thought of everything...they provide bedside tables and lamps, beanbags, a hamper with cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs, cups and a water jug. Each tent contains a mini retro-style fridge, for your essentials, and it even has an electric point...now this is luxury!!! Guests can dine undercover in the 'Old Sheep Shed' over enormous oak tables, and they can gather on sofas around the log burner in 'The Snug', play a board game or two and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine. Each tent has its own outdoor fire grill to cook over, or they can pop over to the communal kitchen area which provides hobs for cooking, a microwave and a retro-style fridge. On our doorstep are plenty of local footpaths to enjoy strolling in the countryside, as well as several country pubs. The White Horse public house can be accessed across fields, by foot, while the others are only a short drive away - perfect for you to enjoy rural relaxing!
Nearby attractions

Footpaths surround the farm and there's a great local pub within walking distance. The nearest town is Market Harborough, a ten-minute drive away, a fine old market town with plenty of indie shops and cafes and a large covered market. If you're looking for family-friendly attractions, you don't have to go far, starting with Rutland Water with its fabulous water park, beach area and nature reserve – and there are also walking trails, bike hire, watersports and boat hire. It's a big place and there are several car parks, depending on what you want to do — best to check in with the Sykes Lane Visitor Centre (01780 686800) first.

If you've got history fans in tow, dramatically sited Rockingham Castle (01536 770240), ten minutes away by car, is a fabulous day out, built by William the Conqueror and continuously occupied for a thousand years. The gardens are lovely and there's a nice tea room too. Wistow Maze (07884 403889) is a fun day out for all the family — it's a maize and sunflower maze, seven feet tall, with a quiz trail to follow. West Lodge Farm Park (01536 760552) is another favourite place for young children, with a petting farm, pony rides, daily animal activities and an indoor adventure barn — a good choice if the weather's iffy.

For older children and families, Foxton Locks (0116 2793686) is a fascinating place to watch boats passing up and down on the Grand Union Canal, using some enterprising Victorian engineering. There are canalside pubs within walking distance, picnic spots and walking trails. Or head to Leicester for big-city attractions like the National Space Centre (0116 2610261) — featuring the UK's largest planetarium — and the King Richard III Visitor Centre (0116 2294132).

Food and drink

The nearest pub is a beauty (and an easy walk) — the White Horse (01858 535268) in Stoke Albany, an old thatched inn with a good bistro menu and a decent Sunday roast. You can eat well in other local hostelries too, such as The Swan (01858 462754), a ten-minute drive away in Braybrooke — another thatched charmer with more of a foodie ambience — and the Red Lion (01858 463571) in Great Bowden, five minutes away, which has a lovely Mediterranean-style courtyard garden for dining. They do good weekend breakfasts here if you fancy starting the day right without the cooking and washing up. Also in Great Bowden, on the green, Bowden Stores (01858 440957) is a chic homeware store with great coffee and good food (they do takeaway pizza nights too).

Otherwise, the nearby town, Market Harborough, has plenty of places to eat, from cafes and pubs to curry houses and pizza places. The best bakery in town is the Garage Bakehouse (07791 951984), for artisan breads, decent coffee, and great cakes. For a drink and a meal, you can't beat the Waterfront (01858 434702), an old warehouse on the canal basin that's now a rather nice bar-restaurant, with outdoor seats in summer overlooking the moored boats.
