Learn more about this land: At 6000ft elevation the air is much cleaner and the weather is much cooler, especially in the summer time! We have plenty of space. A well house to fill up your water. There are also outdoor bathrooms, no shower yet, but working on that! We're just a short seven minute drive to the dump station at a local gas station down the road on the Deuce of Clubs and Penrod. We are 14 minutes from a large hospital, 10 minutes from major grocery stores, shopping and restaurants, and many other fun activities. Our location is in a perfect spot to enjoy the blue sky and great weather. Sunrise Ski area is a quick drive too! Pinetop Lakeside are within 10 minutes, Taylor and Snowflake are within 15 to 25 minutes. We hope you visit and continue to keep our environment clean and a chill spot to visit. We are home to a family-friendly honky-tonk, and microbrewery, now open Wed-Sat 2pm-9pm. Please check our Instagram @the4sbarn for updated season days/hours of operation. Cheers! We also offer a few extras at check-out... We have our 4S free range, nest run eggs for $6.44/dozen. Bags of Ice Start your trip off right with a bundle of our premium firewood. Mostly juniper, nicely dried and bagged. Just remind us at check-in with your receipt. This is not the cheap wood they sell at the gas station. Please always check for our fire bans that are regulated by the county and state. Always have a bucket of water next to your campfire and make sure it's completely out before you leave it. Please do not bring outside firewood. Please do not take the firewood on our property. Thank you!

This property is entirely off grid, takes a 4 wheel drive vehicle, which may get very dirty and/or scratched. Three separate gates enter into a private, entirely fenced, 3.5 acres that back up to 600 plus acres of peaceful, uninhabited, state land, for which you can pitch a tent (or borrow one of ours) for a $20 fee to AZ wildlife fund. This property is magnificent. We have traveled (three years in our motorhome and all over the US), so I know what is good. If you want to, you can find it here. We are powered by solar, limited propane and emergency diesel. There is a motorhome that is in great condition, but if you have skills and can help us remodel (reciprocity), you may stay in it for free and it is fully equipped. There is a small cabin that currently only has one battery for very limited power, but uses propane for heating and cooking. It is fully equipped (kitchen, bedroom, private bathroom, loft, middle living room and small closet). It has a porch swing and an incredible view. There are potential spaces that can also be considered, but this property is spiritual and also my family homestead. Please bring only your peace and reciprocity, no alcohol or drugs (other than the green kind). The property is behind three, separate, locked gates and access requires a key, because our dogs roam free unless we are notified. Put simply, this is a place for your soul to rest. If you need some peace, you can find it here, and if you need someone to talk to, depending upon what it is, you may find a person here for that as well.

I am a working artist of many mediums; ceramics, copper, painting, collage, et al and proprietor of Behr Art Gallery & Gifts. Alongside this work, I  design spaces and events,  host workshops, markets, annual festivals, officiate weddings, and make my ever-morphing property available for others to share and enjoy. To that, I've spent nearly every day designing, decorating, reconstructing, reconfiguring and reworking this historic property, farm and gardens. The structures I've built and designed that are available for your retreat include the CABIN, the LOTUS, the  POND HUT and the TREE HOUSE.The Cabin  was  once a bunkhouse. The previous owners moved it (rolled it on logs) to its present location.  In doing so, the floor joists needed to be reattached and a foundation was constructed to stabilize the building. My brother and I cut, fitted, mudded, tied, nailed, plumbed, electrified  and created a marvelous space.  This is otherwise a working art studio,  organic farm and orchard, with ponds, shade trees, peace, quiet and some of the darkest skies for star gazing in the nation.My backstory:A Connecticut native, I moved to Silver City/Pinos Altos New Mexico in 1970 and then  to Glenwood in 1982. For twenty-two of those years, I lived on a ranch with a herd of horses and two donkeys, and my passion was endurance riding. After thousands of training hours, competitive miles, and sponsoring the Scorpion Sting Endurance Ride, I  gave it up for the life I now live on this land.

Our 80 acre facility includes campsites equipped with horse stalls, camp fire pit's, picnic table's, hook ups for water and power. Each site has its own hitching rail and separate hose hook up for watering/washing horses. We are a horse training ranch. There are 5 round pens, an indoor arena, very large outdoor arena with excellent footing, more than 6 miles of riding trails that are groomed and marked, an obstacle course, a wooden bridge and additional obstacles along the network of trails. We have a large picnic area with hitching rails for up to 30 horses, a large fire pit, a wooden dance floor and a cowboy cooking kitchen, great for parties. Two large enclosed barns and many turn outs with run in sheds. The "Twisted Tree Welcome Center is equipped with a bathroom with a shower, laundry facilities and two loft bedrooms available to rent for $45 per night. The owner is a John Lyons certified horse trainer and a level II Dressage certified instructor, Trish also has more than 20 years training horses and people all over the world. This is a great place to come, ride and camp with your horse. You can also pick up some great pointers from a world class trainer and instructor.

Southward Farm is a 100-acre farm and ranch property in Old Concho, situated in the high desert of eastern Arizona. We purchased the farm in 2021 and are working to reestablish the orchards and grazing lands surrounding the farm house. We are growing our flocks of chickens and ducks and hope to add cows and goats in the near future. The property is bordered by a ridge of hills from which you can get a good view of the valley. The town itself is sparsely populated, with shopping available in St. Johns, 15 miles to the east; Snowflake, 28 miles west; and Show Low, 25 mile southwest. Petrified Forest National Park is a short 30 minute drive to the northwest, beyond that lie the towns of Holbrook and Winslow, situated on historic Route 66. Nearby are reservations of the Navajo, Apache, Zuni, and Hopi nations. Gallup, New Mexico lies about 2 hours to the northeast.
