One day doesn’t do Canyon De Chelly National Monument justice!

That’s why Cottonwood Campground is the perfect place to set up basecamp to explore this epic region of eastern Arizona. Choose from a self-guided hike that takes you 600 feet into the Canyon, or a scenic drive around the North or South Rim. You can even take a guided tour to explore the deep backcountry. Make sure to grab your first-come, first-served campsite on your way in!

The National Park Service and the Navajo Nation jointly manage Canyon de Chelly National Monument. One of the most interesting things about this National Monument is that people live within its boundaries! There is only one overlook, White House Overlook, with public trail access (White House Trail). All other canyon access must be with a Navajo guide.
