Experience Arkansas deep woods by primitive camping in our peaceful sanctuary! Camp Cock-A-Doodle is part of our three camp compound Explore the trails leading land marks like Gum Tree Rock and a Geocache! The Woodland Hills neighborhood is blessed with no railroad tracks or much noise pollution - or light Pollution! The Campground is not far from River access, plentiful creeks, waterfalls and lots of options for float trips. The cutest little river town is just down the road - Hardy Arkansas! You will understand why we all call this area of NEA paradise. Hardy has restaurants, junk shops, candy shop and a hippy store! Hardy beach is a treasure of a local swimming hole with waterfalls and rope swing. Camp Cock-A-Doodle is surrounded by tall trees and truly gives you that deep wood vibe. Details of the campground came right from the land. Large rocks collected from the land were used to create the fire pits. The cedar post marking each campsite were harvested right from the land.

Make an escape plan
Pros: the campsite was relatively close to town, quiet, cheap, and fairly easy to access. Cons: we didn’t see any clear markings delineating where each campsite was supposed to be, which was a little confusing. The land was fairly trashed with litter. The worst part however is that when we awoke at 7 am the next morning, a vehicle had parked directly in front of us, almost completely blocking our only way to leave the site because of trees and a post on either side. We had no idea who the vehicle belonged to, but it looked like it had local plates. No one was in sight, and the host had not responded to my previous message from the night before (they never did) just touching base with them. Luckily, I was able to direct my friend to just barely squeeze out of the driveway with maybe an inch to spare. We realize that this might not be the hosts fault, but we did not enjoy having to squeeze out of on a fairly bumpy gravel driveway.

Camp Cock-A-Doodle Site 2
Highly rated by youngsters
It was a nice and quite place to slow down, kickback and enjoy the rhythm and sound of nature. There were fire pits and wood already set up along with toilet room. The boys explored and found some cool native plants and mushroom patches. Kids also got to experience cicadas up close. The gravel roads leading to site were easy to navigate and the locals were pleasant.

Cockadoodle do it!
Jessica came to welcome us briefly, she was very nice and we enjoyed camping at Cockadoodle! Bring earplugs if you plan to sleep in because the cockadoodling starts at dawn, but it added to the charm of the whole experience. There was a rustic outhouse but we brought our own. The site is just off the dirt road, but there was very little traffic in the neighborhood as we only saw a few cars all weekend. There were stone firepits and plenty of wood laying around to burn since the lot was recently cleared. It's very quiet at night except a few dogs barking in the distance here and there. The dogwoods were in bloom and they were all around the site. All in all it was a great secluded place to watch the eclipse together.
