Firebird Ridge presents a fantastic secluded yet convenient camp station in a beautiful semi-wild setting with huge open sky views over 50 miles of the Klamath River canyon and Siskiyou Crest. Just minutes off the freeway, a variety of simple yet thoughtfully crafted low impact sites for car and tent camping or smaller RVs and vans can accommodate individuals or couples with ample privacy, or small groups with some shared space and amenities.
Accessible year round at an elevation of 2700 feet, the Ridge enjoys fairly comfortable temperatures with some cold nights and hot days in winter and summer respectively. This is a dry climate with infrequent rain between June and October, with elevated fire risk and the potential for smoke impacts from surrounding forests, although the mountainside location generally offers clean fresh air with stunning sunsets and excellent stargazing!
The land contains over a mile and a half of scenic walking trails, with aesthetic rock features and elegant naturally bonsai'd oak trees and shrubs in a landscape undergoing careful restoration to its naturally fire resistant native condition. Wildlife abounds, mostly the friendly sort however visitors should be mindful to avoid unwelcome encounters, and any small children or pets kept under close watch. On the upside, there are almost no biting insects to dodge here. Your host knows the environment well and can answer questions or concerns.
This unique property is a work in progress combining ecological design, conservation, landscape art, and appropriate technology for a refined experience of the "wild side" of life close to the earth. Activity, development, and ambience on site are all low impact to preserve and enhance the natural experience in this special setting. Guests are advised to remain mindful and respectful while visiting to minimize disturbance of other occupants and lifeforms! It's fine to have fun and make some intermittent noise but disruptive or damaging behavior will be promptly curtailed.
