Huckleberry Haven currently features one glorious campsite and camp deck in the forest. Surrounded by huckleberries (in season July-Nov), fir and redwood trees and adjacent to Salt Point State Park and Kruse Rhododendron State Preserve. Property is situated at 800' above sea level (usually above the fog) across the road from the Stump Beach trailhead in Salt Point State Park - which is a 2 mile hike or bike ride down to the beach. Enjoy quiet solitude of one of the most private and quiet places on the Sonoma Coast. Avoid the crowds of Salt Point, with all the basic amenities you expect. Birdwatch, play frisbee golf, hunt for mushrooms, basecamp your hikes, runs or mountain bike rides in Salt Point, or use Huckleberry Haven as the central spot to innumerable road bike rides on empty roads. The choice is yours!Huckleberry Forest Deck Campsite features a 19' x 23' redwood camping deck for your tents and cots. The deck was constructed from a redwood tree we milled on-site, and we reused the historic water tank foundations for the deck supports. The deck is situated on a gentle slope and is intended to be where you pitch your tents, as the surrounding area is gently sloping (imperfect for tents). Special Note: Effective June 17, 2024 we are implementing a burn ban in accordance with CalFire's burn ban for all of unincorporated Sonoma County. [for other times of year: A fire pit is nearby, with ample fresh/potable water. We encourage you to bring firewood & matches, though you're also welcome to gather dead wood nearby, as thinning the forest is a fire-safe goal of ours.] A clean outhouse is a short walk from the site. Parking is available for 2 vehicles a short 75 yard walk from the campsite. If you have a van or RV, you're welcome to overnight in the parking area which is nearly flat. We don't recommend bringing a trailer. Huckleberry camp is situated in the southwest corner of our 20 acre family ranch. You may encounter us, or our friends visiting the main house, but you'll feel like you have the place to yourself. We value quiet and privacy. *A note on capacity: The deck is 19'x23' and intended for two tents and 4-6 people. There is not much flat space for additional tents nearby. If you're looking to bring the maximum 8 people, please plan to shoehorn tents, sleeping bags and/or cots onto the deck. The campsite/sleep-site *is* the deck. *A note on food prep: Highly recommend you bring a folding table and chairs, and we also provide a redwood picnic table. *mosquitos! Yep. They are around in the spring & summer time.

Brilliant!
What a wonderful spot! An absolute highlight of my ride through America. Peaceful, beautiful, and brilliant single track back down to Highway 1. Highly recommend, and a high thank you to Jake and Katy for being wonderful, welcoming, helpful people!

Huckleberry Haven Forest Camp Deck
Great camping spot! The directions were clear and informative, and Jake was very responsive. The deck is a good size. We fit a six man tent and two three man tents on it (a bit close, but it worked). The fire pit, benches, and picnic table were in good condition and convenient. There is a gravel road for the last few miles, but it is not bad at all. The campsite is a few hundred feet from the parking spot, but Jake left us a wagon to help move stuff which helped. I'd recommend for anyone heading to the Salt Point area.

Great spot! Looks hard to find on the map, but it's not. The clean pit toilet is a big plus. Thanks Jake

Huckleberry Haven Forest Camp Deck
Great spot. I'm a local and have camped all over the Sonoma Coast (pretty much everywhere you can, multiple times!) and have hiked and explored the entire Salt Point area in particular for more than a decade. Still, my two-night stay here with friends was a blast. Gorgeous hike down to Stump Beach, and from there you can walk the bluffs to Gerstle Cove -- if you're up for it, a world-class route. Back at camp we appreciated the seclusion and privacy and the large property/grounds to explore all by ourselves. Minor notes to the hosts. Signage might have been a bit more clear as to what's on- and off-limits, and more privacy from the main house could have been nice if it had been occupied, which it didn't appear to be this weekend. Also, the water situation would have been a hair more convenient with a typical campground spigot a couple feet off the ground (instead of a coiled hose). Water seemed very nice quality though. Finally, a grill top for the fire pit would've been a big plus. Thank you, hosts!

Peaceful deck in the woods.
Lovely good sized deck in the woods set a good ways off the back side of a secluded property, house can be seen from the deck but it feels private and quiet up there. Short little juant from parking, fire pit has a windbreak behind it and benches, potable water hose and stone pavers for a little water station. Outhouse has a night light. Decks top railing is wide enough to use almost as a table. Thoughtful considerations. It was super great to be able to spread out our gear on a dry clean deck up off the mud and moisture. We saw the host only once from a distance and it was only to wave Hi, ask if we needed anything and drop off some firewood at the end of the path. The hike down to Stump Beach is a treat.
