My husband and loved camping at Laura's. She has put a lot of work into the property to make it comfortable for her campers. She has an outdoor kitchen fully stocked with all the cooking essentials one needs. My husband I so enjoyed cooking, even when it was raining, that we are now inspired to build our own outdoor kitchen. She also has a full bathroom with a shower that puts out plenty of hot water and when one is camping nothing feels so good as a hot shower. There was road traffic but the property is situated back enough from the road that it felt secluded and peaceful. There were also owls that every evening would start up an owl conversation and a hawk that hung around during the day. There are lots trees that helped give a sense of seclusion and a stream. All the campsites have tables and chairs, there's also a large fire pit and grill. She also has a small, cute cabin available for those who prefer to sleep indoors. I would definitely stay again.

Wow!! Gorgeous first come first serve campsites nestled into lush greenery on the Russian River. We just were visiting but heard each site has it’s own private trail to the river beach. Super private camping. This is an “environmental campground” which means it’s less developed than other state parks. There’s only 11 sites, no running water and each site is a short walk from the carpark. There is a toilet. Can’t wait to come back here soon and paddle to the nearby ocean!

Do not listen to Google coming from the east side - instead drive the 116 past Duncan Mills all the way until you hit hwy 1 and then make your first left just past Russian House (cafe). Try for one of the shaded sites if you have your pick.

Your guide to camping in Willow Creek

Overview

Fishing

The ocean, bay and river frontage of the Sonoma County coast are an angler's paradise. Sport fishing species include rockfish, perch, salmon, steelhead and smelt, as well as red abalone, mussels and cockles. A valid California Fishing license license is required.

Hiking

Sonoma Coast State Park is made up of a bunch of smaller parts (all are equally as beautiful). So, needless to say..you’ve got A LOT to choose from. There are several shorter scenic hiking trails can be found at the extreme northern and southern extents of the park. These include Russian Gulch and the headland and bluff trails of North Jenner, in the north, and the Bodega Head and Horseshoe Cove Overlook trails in the south. Longer hikes include the 4-mile Kortum Trail from Blind Beach to Wright’s Beach and the 3.5-mile trail from Shell Beach to Pomo Canyon campground (or 7 miles to Duncans Mills through the Willow Creek addition). For more information on specific hikes, check out our friends at Everytrail

Horseback riding

Is riding a horse shirtless on the beach your thing? Well at Sonoma Coast State Park you can do that! Equestrians and hikers can access the park's five-mile trail system through the Bodega Dunes, via Bay Flat Road. Horses are allowed onto Salmon Creek Beach if they stay on the trail, but are not allowed north of the picnic area. The Kortum Trail begins at Wright's Beach and travels north to Blind Beach. The Pomo Canyon Trail, out of the Shell Beach parking lot, winds over the hill 3 1/2 miles to the Pomo Canyon Campground.

Surfing

While the vintage wines of Sonoma are most definitely better quality then the waves, there are a couple decent spots. Sonoma Coast offers up two spots in particular, Salmon Creek and Secrets. For the best info and current conditions look here .
