First Camping Trip of the Summer!
Our recent camping trip to Aspenwald was a refreshing and exhilarating experience, offering the perfect blend of adventure and tranquility. This well-maintained campsite provided us with breathtaking views, diverse wildlife, and ample opportunities for outdoor activities. The hosts John and Courtney went above and beyond.

Aspenwald Tent Site 2
Aspenwald was great!!! 10/10 would recommend. The host, John was attentive to his land rental. He checked the tent site days before we arrived to let us know what to expect. Some spaces were a bit water logged, but not uncomfortable at all. We expected a cooler stay, so the wetness was not a surprise. I anticipate the camp sites would all be dry june/July. Our site was cool & dry and John provided plenty of firewood for the site. We are already making plans with Family to return! Beautiful landscape, quiet, and we even had wildlife visit us our first morning! The only thing we didn't love was having to walk through other campsites to get to the firewood/toilet but not a deal breaker by any means!

Snow Camping At Aspenwald
This Hipcamp sits tucked between mountains nearby the Pike-San Isabel National Forest off a network of gravel roads. It offers 5 walk in campsites surrounded by Aspens behind a locked fence for a little extra security. While I would highly suggest camping here, I think I may have missed the ideal season at Aspenwald since all the leaves had fallen and thin layer of snow covered the ground, providing a little less tree cover than usual. Either way, this campsite was easy to find and access based on the directions, and have everything I needed for a night outside. I camped in campsite 4 which is the closest to the parking area to access campsites 1-4 (5 is a drive in site on the other side). All campsites had fire pits, level land to pitch a tent, and were surrounded by trees. At this time of year you can see the road from the campsite but traffic was low. Campsites 1-4 are walk-in and be aware that you have to walk through campsites 2 and 3 to get to 1 which is the farthest away. All campsites are fairly close together so you will never have to travel too far from your car. Highlights include the fire wood shed which made starting a fire easy, even in the snow, the surrounding mountain views that you could catch from the far side of the campground and on the surrounding roads, and of course being surrounded by the unique Aspen trees!
