you should really have 4x4 to get to the site there isn't any light in the cabin, if you are ready for that it could be a fun get away! there is also corn hole and a bbq super fun!
but i would suggest bringing your own power source and a heater because they don't allow fires.

Gold prospectors Camp
Lovely little site
Great value for money! I stayed two nights, the noise from the highway turns into white noise pretty quickly once you arrive. The road is also very manageable as I drove a stock crosstrek.

Blown away by this stay!!
I love this place. Everything about camping here was perfect. We even had 5 elk walk right up to our door. The host was responsive and helpful and extremely accommodating to our long stay. We had the best time as they were kind enough to upgrade our stay. My son and puppy were able to run up and down the mountain freely without worrying and were able TJ enjoy nature safely. It was fun to explore the site and the A frames were perfect. This is primitive camping, but if you come prepared you will feel at home. I want to come back and stay here every year. We stayed almost two weeks total and everyone in Idaho Springs, Dumont, and surrounding towns were so kind and friendly. I HIGHLY recommend staying here if it’s one night, two or a month! Lovely spot. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Globe
Our Honda Accord made it about halfway up before the loose gravel and steepness got to us. 4WD would be ideal, but if you’re comfortable with your vehicle and have some skill, you can make it up to the first 3-4 lots. We ended up staying in the Globe for 3 nights and it was fantastic! Only downside is hearing I-70 but other than that it was really awesome. The bed in the globe is comfy and linens are provided although I’d recommend dressing appropriately for the nighttime temps. Rick was super helpful and timely in his responses, and we will stay here again if able.

Base camp C-3
We had an 8 person tent up at C3 and it was great. Clear path to see the stars from the tent. Very kind host. Great check in and check out time. Great price. Excited to try this place out again. They sound like they have a lot of great plans for the future!

I absolutely loved staying there and would love to stay again. I really loved the view, easy to park, had a grill and basic tools provided. Make sure you bring a portable heater & proper sleeping bag or thick blankets though, It gets quite cold overnight. But overall I really enjoyed staying there!
