This unique rustic campground offers visitors a chance to reconnect with nature while experiencing the rich history of the area. 4WD or AWD is necessary to access our property!!! Accessing the campsite is an off-road adventure. Please only book if you are comfortable with off-road driving. Not private, felt uneasy.
This campsite looked great from the pictures and the reviews. But it was very deceiving. The camp sites are very close together... not a lot of privacy. And the toilet is completed open for all to see (it's not an outhouse). Literally a toilet seat and anyone can see you walking by. There were a lot of bear signs and a Danger sign on one of the camp sites which made us feel rather uncomfortable when we first drove in (we know there's bears and brought all necessary precautions, but still... it made me feel like I was going into a danger zone). This campsite looked so cute and family friendly from all the pictures and reviews. But in person.... we felt uneasy. Didn't end up camping and left.

Unfortunately we were unable to stay here this weekend as the roads were way too steep for our vehicle to get through and service was spotty so it was hard to communicate with owners. I booked this spot for my bachelorette weekend but we had to get a new place outside of the area. The beginning of the drive to this site was okay as long as you took central city route, but the last 1/4 of a mile was incredibly rough- we nearly bottomed out. Feel like 4wheels are the safest way to get to this site, not just any 4 wheel drive. Area was beautiful and would have liked to have stayed here.

Property is no longer maintained
The home of (presumably) the owners of this property are selling their place, and it would seem that as soon as they moved out they abandoned property maintenance and are now just making whatever money comes in from hipcampers. There is rusty metal everywhere from the abandoned mine, the road driving up is in horrible condition, and there is literally no hiking or anything to do nearby unless you drive out of camp. the toilet is just a hole in the ground with a wood platform and toilet seat covering it, Not even a shack for privacy. From site 3, we had almost a direct view to the toilet. The host was almost completely unresponsive, and the directions about meeting them first are misleading. This is comparatively worse than any KOA or BLM site and almost 2-3x the cost. We had a good trip and made the most of it, but this was a waste of money compared to other options.
