2 nights at Strawberry Fields Forever

We appreciate Robin greeting us when we arrived. She explained the set up and handed us the warm (and tasty) quiche we ordered! We had a lovely view and took a walk to the beach. It was so close. Also, we received some good suggestions on where to hike and a couple of good restaurant recommendations. Thanks Robin, we had a great time!

Our family of 6 + dog had a fantastic stay here. We didn't think we'd be able to book the night we wanted, but Robin was surprisingly accommodating and responsive. She set up a picnic table, chairs, and a wood fire ahead of our arrival, which lasted us over three hours in the evening. The property has sweeping views over strawberry fields. We spent a long afternoon at Manresa State Beach, which is just a short walk away. The sites are spread out well with plenty of space. In short: very friendly and responsive host, great views, and rare proximity to a dog-friendly beach. We can't wait to return.

Weekend Trip to dabudage Big Sur

We loved this place! We only stayed on night along our drive home. Really nice coming from the north even though Hwy 1 north of the property was closed. A beautiful/ kinda scary drive but if you go slow, it’s an experience. Reminded me of the road to Hana! lol! You gotta be into rustic vibes. Epic view, full moon rise. Creek side fire. We are it up! The redwood Gazebo is up a steep hill. We backpacked up with our sleeping bags, pillows and other little essentials. We wish we would have done all our business down low before we hiked up. I’d bring a couple libations and snacks. Chilling up in the perch is epic! We will be back!!

Ray and Robin were great. The views were wonderful, The site was well maintained. Loved the close walk the beach, can't wait to go back.

4 nights at San Juan Bautista Dog Friendly

We really enjoyed our four nights at Mi Querida ranch. It was so beautiful and peaceful. It is close to a lot of pretty places. We loved giving carrots to Daisy the donkey and Hannah the horse. We had a wild turkey staying in a pine tree near our campsite. What a charming place and Nancy is a very nice host.

Always a fantastic easy stay! Roberta's goats are the absolute cutest around. She is thoughtful and great at responding.

We stayed at the site with with gorgeous view of the valley. Site was pretty level and offered great privacy and quiet. Short walk to a beautiful beach and close enough to Capitola and Santa Cruz for side excursions. Hosts were great. We will return in the future.

Robin and Ray were great hosts! We arrived later than planned and Ray came out with a smile and a welcome. He brought us eggs we had purchased and told us of some good restaurants and hiking in the area. Robin was out of town and was very responsive to all of our messaging questions. She made great recommendations for hikes as well. The beach is very close and we loved taking our dog down there for a walk at sunset. We hope to stay again!

We camped here for a night in a tent. The place has all the facilities mentioned including hot water, kitchenette and a shower. Some of the camping sites were a little overgrown (but still flat) but the ones by the river are definitely very nice! The steam flows through the property and sounds so peaceful. The beach is right opposite the property and is a very short walk. The host seemed pretty helpful and has done a good job maintaining all the provided facilities. I would definitely recommend camping here!

What a lovely getaway. Beautiful views of the strawberry fields, The 20Amp of electricity was just enough. The fresh eggs were a wonderful way to start the day. I was in my brand new rig and had several projects underway. Ken was super helpful. He gave me full access to his tools! That’s an outstanding host. We enjoyed chatting about his time in Evergreen raising his kids.

This was our second time camping here and it was just as lovely as the first. All the little animals are adorable. The kitchen is always helpful. The Redwood Room Gazebo was a great site! Worth the short hike up and down.

We loved camping at Dabudage. Great location, easy to access from the South and an awesome way to camp in Big Sur without having to plan a year in advance. Lots of space between tent sites. Kid and dog friendly! We’ll be back :)

Incredible weekend stay. My boyfriend and I go to school in the city and Dabudage was exactly the escape we were hoping it to be. Green, cozy, safe, rustic. The owners are very nice amenable people who we enjoyed talking too. Very chill vibe in general. I would absolutely reccomend !

1 night at Elkhorn Ranch

Great spot for enjoying nature at it's finest. The host was amazing, providing us a tour of the land and an introduction to all the animals upon our arrival. The kids had a blast, and loved holding the newborn goats (literally born that day!). The parents enjoyed some downtime at the campfire after the kids went to bed. Successful trip. We will be back soon.

What a beautiful property! Very friendly hosts along with friendly visits from the cats and dogs. Easily one of the most unique campsites I’ve ever been to and plan on returning someday!

At the base of a majestic canyon where steep mountains plunge to the ocean, along a flowing creek. Backed by redwood trees and surrounded by national forest is a minimalistic homestead with family, friends and animals. *We currently only accept reservations for dates within the next 3 weeks*. You must Arrive Before Dark to find your site. There is no wi-fi, cell service or electricity. Hwy 1 is currently closed to the north of this land. The only access is through Cambria from the south or over the mountain from King City off of Hwy 101 There is a small communal guest kitchen, fresh water, a shower/bath and composting barrel poopers. A massive flood in Jan 2021 brought 100's of gigantic full sized redwood trees and boulders smashing down thru most of the previous structures. It is in the process of rebuilding. Children are welcome. Alcohol is discouraged. No electronic music devices. Fires in designated pits only. Dogs are welcome off-leash. Pack out trash. Welcome to southern Santa Cruz County, home of some of the longest and most beautiful beaches in central California. We are located in La Selva Beach, an eight-minute walk to Manresa State Beach. We are a small, working farm with vegetable and flower gardens, chickens and bees. There are many excellent places nearby to hike, walk, surf, swim, tide pool or just sit and enjoy the view. We offer three campsites, two have fantastic, unobstructed views of the three hundred acres of strawberry fields that back up to our property. Our campsites provide water and electric hookups and are only appropriate for self-contained recreational vehicles and trailers. One of the sites has no size constraints on RVs or trailers. We have plenty of room for a second vehicle. We do offer a port-a potty, but not sinks or showers. We do not accommodate on the ground tent camping or in your car camping. The Valley View site is very quiet as it is farthest from the road, and is the most private. The Gateway site is near the road and does not have a view of the strawberry fields, but guests who are just looking for a quick stop over or base camp love it. The Strawberry and Surf site has no size restrictions and it backs up to San Andreas Rd. All site are walking distance to Manresa State Beach. We love to host guests and will provide information about things to do and see in our area. We often loan our State Parks pass so that you can venture out to Point Lobos, Wilder Ranch, Sunset Beach, Natural Bridges and more. Each camp site includes a fire pit and a generous wagon of wood. Two camp chairs and a picnic table are included as well. We also offer farm fresh eggs, baked goods and other treats (see our Extras). We are 15 minutes from the village of Capitola, 30 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz and 45 minutes to Monterey. There is a Dump station 5 minutes down the road at the KOA (for a fee).

Elkhorn Ranch

Five minutes from the beach, Elkhorn Ranch is home to goats, sheep, wild chickens followed by their baby chicks, and a couple of cows, dogs, and sheep. In addition to the animals there is a greenhouse and an acre of pumpkins, corn, and beans. A small fruit orchard borders the chicken coop. Anybody who enjoys small farm life and activity will find this place enchanting. Norris and Roberta are incredible hosts and inclusive to any guests that want to participate in farm life. Close to restaurants and the cute harbor town of Moss Landing, 30 minutes from Carmel and Santa Cruz, Elkhorn Ranch can be a place to relax or a gateway to explore Big Sur and all the amazing hidden gems of the Central California Coast.
