Weekend Trip to Calistoga Dreaming

We loved camping on Peter’s land. With only one site on the property, it was very private. Jody (his wife) welcomed us shortly after we got there and showed us all of the power switches for the outdoor lights and how to use the shower. We loved the Mountain View’s by day and the lights of Calistoga by night. With Bothe state park so close, we drove into town for a hearty breakfast at Serafornia’s and then headed off to Bothe just a few miles south of town. We came back and took hot showers in Peter’s cleverly made outdoor stall, then settled in for a lovely evening by the chimenea and string lights. The only thing that would have made this better would have been wider roads and an easier way to back in. It was a little tricky for us but once there it was more than worth it. Absolutely beautiful and Peter’s touches show a true appreciation for the land and for camping.

2 nights at Herrick Vineyards Barn Yard

It was a real pleasure to stay here and so enjoyable that we stayed an additional night. The site was immaculate and all laid out very neatly and is well located to vineyards that are walking distance or a short uber into Healdsburg for the restaurants there.

This was a wonderful place to camp. With a wide mixture of farm animals and birds to enjoy with a vineyard to look at. A wine tasting option less than a half mile away. Eileen was very welcoming and shared her fresh eggs and lemons. Definitely will look to stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Above the Clouds RV Park

We camped at site #2 and very much enjoyed it. Perched high up on a hill in Sonoma County, it has one of the best views we’ve come across with Hip Camp. Even though it’s only a 20 min climb from civilization, the view is mostly wild hillside. Host Colleen was very friendly and helpful, and they have a friendly black lab named Minnie. Both sites are near the owners house, but you can hardly see any neighbors; view from most directions are wild hillsides. The site was fairly flat, but you’d need a wheel leveler to make it completely level. The best part, for people like us who don’t like to back in a trailer, site 2 offers a turn-around so you don’t have to back up when you leave. Good well water is supplied by nearby hose bibs, with good pressure. However, there are no standard RV 30amp or 50Amp hook-ups; electricity is supplied by a thick gauge extension cord with a domestic 3-prong connection, so make sure you have that adapter. The 15amp supply will not power A/C, but did fine with microwave and other light loads. The nice hill views mean you have to climb up a long winding road, with many hairpin turns, to get there. Our trailer is 19’, and we feel that’s is the max length we’d be comfortable towing up there. Definitely would NOT recommend for any Class-As or larger trailers. Many hiking trails and boutique vineyards with tasting, within 30 mins drive. We recommend this site, and will likely return.

Epic spot. Tyler is great. Had a bunch of young families up for the weekend for our first annual neighborhood camping trip. Infrastructure on site is amazing. Really out in the wilderness here which is hard to find. No brainer! Will be back.

We had a wonderful stay at this Hipcamp in Occidental! The campsite was super comfortable—clean, well-maintained, and we especially appreciated the picnic table and café lights, which made evenings feel extra cozy. It was also incredibly close to town, so we loved being able to pop over and wander through all the fun little shops. Great spot, would definitely come back!

Sonoma Country Landing is in the heart of wine country. The site is very close to level. The environment is beautiful and serene surrounded by a garden, a field and vineyards with the only noise from a rooster. Note: there are two water spigots. Be sure to use the one with the green hose permanently attached, it is potable. Be sure to fill up on fuel, the closest service stations I could find were about 15 miles away. Mary is a very attentive and welcoming host and made sure I knew how to handle the power and water connections. If you like a quiet campsite this place is for you.

2 nights at Sonoma Country Landing

Oh! What a perfect stay and I wish I could have stayed longer (or even forever!). Mary is so lucky to live on this property. The sounds of nature outside and the star-lit skies above were magical every day. The location makes it easy to explore Sonoma, Napa and beyond. There are wineries very close (you could walk!) and a dinette nearby, too. It only takes minutes to get into Sonoma. Power and water worked perfectly. Clear sky for Starlink if you need to work (a little!) remotely.

Timber Cove Campground

Located right off coastal US highway 1, Timber Cove campground sits right at the edge of breathtaking, oceanside cliffs. We are situated on roughly two acres of land, with multiple campsites for tent/car camping or RV’s. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire pit and water. Electricity is available to use for an extra fee. We have separate men’s and women’s flush bathrooms, with coin-operated hot showers. We have firewood with kindling for sale on site, payable with cash or Venmo. Please take note of local fire bans, when in effect. Dog friendly, though be advised a leash is recommended as we are close to the road, but they can run leash-free down at the beach. We are located 30 minutes north of the town of Jenner, with Gualala 30 minutes to the north. Gualala has grocery stores, a post office, and some shops. Fort Ross Store is located one mile down the road, just before Timber Cove, and sells basic food necessities, drinks, sandwiches, ice and gas. Internet cell service can be spotty in our area, depending on your provider, so bring your own Starlink services if you have them. We also have access to the beach below, and offer beach camping as well. Take note that the road down to the beach is steep with uneven terrain. The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night! We hope you’ll come visit our little slice of heaven on the ocean cliffs, gaze at the stars, marvel at the sunsets, watch the harbor seals dozing on their rocks and the many bird species that inhabit our property. This is the perfect peaceful getaway near great outdoor activities and some of the best wineries in California! About the Property: Above the Clouds campsite is surrounded by beautiful, stately trees and overlooks the Valley of the Moon with a stunning mountain view. We are just 11 miles from the city of Sonoma and only 8 miles from the Napa Valley - making both destinations really easy to get to. You can enjoy the California wineries, restaurants, and shops that you'd like! We are also ideally located near Jack London State Park - which is a really pretty and historic place to go! The opportunities for hiking around our property are endless, and definitely head to the wineries if that's of interest to you. On our property you can enjoy exploring our more-than 20 acres of land, taking the row-boat (provided by Hosts) out on our pond, hiking or just relaxing in a serene setting and watching a great variety of birds. Formerly utilized as a bed and breakfast, when we moved to the property we definitely wanted to continue sharing the land and views with guests. As hosts, we are around and enjoy getting to know the our visitors if you are up for that, otherwise we are also happy to respect total privacy. There are 3 sites next to the pond, we have one that is there all the time in the summer but those folks only come a couple of times each month. The 2 others are right next to each other near the pond. We haven't started having more than one rented at a time yet but do expect to start that soon. You may have a neighbor or 2. About the Listing: Come park your RV on our property and set up camp at a beautiful spot right next to the pond. You should expect to see us on the property, though your site is well away from the house We have minimal electrical and we do have water hookups available for your RV, we do allow generators. There is a BBQ grill that you are welcome to use for cooking some wonderful meals if you'd like! You can enjoy a bite to eat at the picnic table near your campsite. There is also potable water from our natural spring available onsite for guests. You can enjoy watching the birds, turkeys and deer that meander through the meadow, and feel free to roam around the property taking in the fresh outdoor air! Additional Details to Note: - Check-in is after 2pm and check-out is before 12pm - Things to bring: Everything you need to camp comfortably! We also have a pigtail available (with a refundable deposit) if needed to convert 50 amp to 30 amp. Our sites are located one mile from Healdsburg plaza, the heart of Sonoma County wine country. Our town offers amazing wineries, fantastic restaurants, and quaint shops. It is an excellent place for wine lovers. There is a pre-prohibition winery right across the road called Foppiano. There are many other fabulous wineries are nearby. We are in an excellent location for outdoor adventurers. There are plenty of hiking trails near by as well as bike rental shops for those who enjoy trekking, and even a couple of rafting places right here on the Russian River. We are close to places like Armstrong Woods, Safari West, Getaway Adventures, The Sonoma County Fairgrounds which hosts the Summer Country Concerts among other events, Harmony Festival, Santa Rosa Full Camp; Half Marathons Camp; 5K, Sonoma Zip-line Adventures, and Much More! For you foodies there are Savor Food Tours, Relish Culinary Adventures in addition to all the incredible restaurants in town. There is so much to do and see in our beautiful part of the world.
