There are many things to love. The view on the Perch is spectacular, wide open yet secret and intimate. The restaurant/bar down the hill has some fun music and is a good place to hang out. The location is just minutes away from Julian so we can hop into town when we want. We love it, our dogs love it. We will come back when we need to escape just for a couple of nights.

The perfect weekend with my daughter. Caitriona was incredibly welcoming, both on hand to help with any questions, but also very calm and respectful of our space. The hut was idyllic. I stayed at the cabin with my wife and we enjoyed our stay. It’s only about 30 or so from San Diego which was perfect for us. There’s a bathroom and shower we could use connected to the hosts house which was nice. For the price and location we are definitely coming back!

What a fun little place! The casita was a great size for 2 adults and 2 dogs. It smelled amazing in April with all the citrus blooms. The stocked outdoor kitchen and bathroom with running water was great too. Fun, peaceful getaway.

Amazing land, views, available fruits, outdoor kitchen, shower, and farm dog! Will absolutely be coming again. The farm dog, Gertie, took walks around the property every morning with me and my pups. She was very sweet to my five pound chihuahua who is weary of large dogs not her sister who is a 65 pound pittie. Everyone got along and I was so happy Gertie was gentle, kind, and patient with her introductions and mannerisms. If she likes you, she will come find you to say hello. She may have used me for treats but I couldn’t care less. Jacob, the host, was also amazing! We shared time together and had tea. My time here was a great escape when I needed to get away a bit and break up monotony.

This is a great and safe campground with all the amenities you could ask for, to have a great time. It was perfect for kids and so much to do for them and adults. The staff were so amazing! Each and every one of them was accommodating and very friendly. We will definitely return and try a different experience like a tiny home vs an RV. Wineries are close by; however grocery stores are not so come prepared.

Nopalito Farm has been in operation since late 2014, but the property itself has been a working farm for over 50 years. Lemons and avocados were the primary crops from the 70’s through the 00’s, and are still prominent throughout our 15 acres. Our predecessors then diversified the growing operation by planting a wide range of fruit trees ranging from guavas and passion fruit to peaches and figs. Fun Fact: Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the world's largest honey producer! Today there are just a few bees in the area.

Bailes Farm

One of the last remaining undeveloped parts of Southern California, De Luz Heights is located adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest, and the Santa Margarita River (just a few miles from the campsite). On my 60 acres, there are no major roads going through or next to the property. My land is 13 miles from the Pacific ocean and enjoys a relatively mild yearly climate. Giant boulders provide topographical relief and offer platforms from which to enjoy the view of the nearby Santa Margarita Mountains. The valley views are filled with olive and avocado groves, vineyards, and horse ranches. The Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base is nearby, so you might hear some artillery in the distance on some occasions. The campsite embraces all the comforts of "glamping": a hot shower, composting toilet, beds with sheets provided, gas grill with a stovetop, pots and pans, kitchenware, a sink, picnic table, shaded deck, sofa, lounge chairs, and propane fire pit. The basics are provided: toilet paper, paper towels, purified drinking water, towels, sheets, cooking oil, etc. Campers need to bring their own blankets. I've created a network of hiking trails for especially fit hikers looking for a more rigorous hike than the nearby Santa Margarita River Trail. My trails lead through creek beds, over boulders, through rocky crags, with views of the Pacific ocean on a clear day. Hikers on my trails need to wear proper hiking boots with good traction. Sections of my trails will require bouldering with hands and feet. Expect to have fatigued quadriceps, some scrapes, and a sweaty hat brim. The campsite is accessible with a two-wheel drive vehicle; I drive a Kia Forte out there regularly. However, some tips when driving a two-wheel drive car: when going uphill on a dirt road, try to keep some momentum of about 12-15 MPH. If you stop and try to start again, your tires will spin out. If that happens, just reverse down the hill, and try it again with more momentum.
