Weekend Trip to Sonoma Country Landing

Sonoma Country Landing is in the heart of wine country. The site is very close to level. The environment is beautiful and serene surrounded by a garden, a field and vineyards with the only noise from a rooster. Note: there are two water spigots. Be sure to use the one with the green hose permanently attached, it is potable. Be sure to fill up on fuel, the closest service stations I could find were about 15 miles away. Mary is a very attentive and welcoming host and made sure I knew how to handle the power and water connections. If you like a quiet campsite this place is for you.

2 nights at Sonoma Country Landing

Oh! What a perfect stay and I wish I could have stayed longer (or even forever!). Mary is so lucky to live on this property. The sounds of nature outside and the star-lit skies above were magical every day. The location makes it easy to explore Sonoma, Napa and beyond. There are wineries very close (you could walk!) and a dinette nearby, too. It only takes minutes to get into Sonoma. Power and water worked perfectly. Clear sky for Starlink if you need to work (a little!) remotely.

You would never guess that you're in Novato. Sam has designed a minimal but magical hipcamp that feels like a hidden treasure. I recommend camping here in the spring/early summer when everything is vibrant green! We celebrated my birthday with an outdoor feast and made flower crowns. We also found a teeny tiny frog. Very cute. Sam was highly responsive and allowed me to add on the cabin last minute when I found out it was 100% chance of rain that night. What a guy!

This was our second time camping on Matt's land. We enjoy it in the Springtime before the heat sets in and the surrounding hills are still green. The campsites are well marked and spread out enough that even with a relatively busy weekend, we still felt like we had our privacy. The bathroom is still a nice feature. Large and well maintained. I'm sure we'll be back again!

The Ranch was PERFECT for us! We had such a good time in March 2025. The host Matt was very communicative, and answered questions very quickly. I really appreciated that. The space was perfect for our style of tent camping. The "outhouse" was more like the Taj Mahal of facilities. Wonderful constructed, metal walls, a sun shower, a full toilet, full sink, mirror, electricity. The farm and animals were fun. We put up canopies, and used our cars as informal wind breaks. I aske each camper to bring two bundles of wood and that was great. There is a fire pit at each tent camping site, and a picnic table. We had s'mores, sang, played guitar, looked at stars, played D&D, had deep conversations ... it was PERFECT.

3 nights at The Ranch at Cross Road

Six stars out of five! Matt the Host is great. The "outhouse" is really a quality constructed metal building, raised, with instant hot water no roof shower (incredible). Full sink, mirror, lights, electricity, and full regular toilet. There is PLENTY of space in the tent camping area. It's huge and our group reserved two spots and spread way out. Fire rings at each tent camping spot + a picnic table. We put up canopies and used cars as informal wind breaks. We had so much fun! Hills, cows, sunrises, sunsets, s'mores, fire, guitar, stars (so clear!) and more. We are already looking to book for next year!

I love this place. Its quiet and safe. They do have electric outlets and water. The owner is very friendly and good with communication. Would definitely recommend.

This is such a lovely location. Beautiful property. Atmospheric touches were wonderful, including the old truck with the beaming headlights right near the commons area. The hill soaring above the meadow and the hangout area were very nice. I sure wished the bathroom worked, (I was leading a group of campers, many of whom hadn't really camped before, and the lack of the functioning toilet was kind of a drag, considering that it was advertised as having a full bathroom. There issues with the water pressure and water quality. Aside from that I would recommend wholeheartedly.

3 nights at Pharo Pharms Organic Farm-

Peaceful stay in the country. Road is a little narrow and bumpy with some tricky turns for a longer trailer. But once there, the site is level and there is room to maneuver around. Couldn't really get our trailer right next to the fence in the designated spot because the turn is too sharp, but there is plenty of room and it seemed to be OK. There is only an extension cord for electric, but that was enough for us. We enjoyed our stay.

2 nights at Sonoma Country Landing

Nice location convenient to downtown Sonoma and for our purposes San Francisco. Lively neighbors (chickens, geese, and turkey) who give a farm vibe. Back streets to access are tight and uneven but worth it for the destination.

This land is a real farm, lots of animal noises, early until late, so if you’re okay with real country living, it is great. I was the only camper, in February, and enjoyed the experience. Nouae had nice firewood too.

The Olive Farm

Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. We listed the site for up to 12 campers but feel free to reach out if your group is bigger. Please check out the newest addition of our cabin bunkhouse. Take a look at the pictures - you can add it to your stay as an extra when you book! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.
