Camp Stoney Meadows

13 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents120 acres · Big Bend, CA
Our 120 acres is adjacent to Shasta Trinity National Forest in the beautiful Cascade Range between Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta. It's a working ranch with tree farms, animals, hydroelectric power, sawmill, gardens, orchards, creeks, springs, trails, and our camp alongside Kosk Creek. We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip! No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

Alpen Vineyard Hideaway

6 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents20 acres · Trinity Center, CA
Alpen Cellars Winery was established on a family ranch in the spring of 1984; it is situated in a picturesque mountain valley at the foot of towering craggy peaks in the rugged Trinity Lake region of Trinity County, California. Alpen Cellars is a family venture in which each of us take part in the long painstaking process of wine production. From pruning to harvest, crush to fermentation and bottling, we strive for fine wine and a connection to our customers. It may seem like an unlikely location to grow wine grapes, but the combination of high elevation and favorable microclimate provide the ideal conditions for early maturing grapes.

Firebird Ridge

4 sites · RVs, Tents65 acres · Hornbrook, CA
Firebird Ridge presents a fantastic secluded yet convenient camp station in a beautiful semi-wild setting with huge open sky views over 50 miles of the Klamath River canyon and Siskiyou Crest. Just minutes off the freeway, a variety of simple yet thoughtfully crafted low impact sites afford car and tent camping or smaller RVs and vans with ample privacy. Small to medium size (5-20pp) groups may combine sites and enjoy some shared space and amenities. Accessible year round at an elevation of 2700 feet, the Ridge enjoys fairly comfortable temperatures with some cold nights and hot days in winter and summer respectively. This is a drier climate with infrequent rain between June and October, with elevated fire risk and the potential for smoke impacts from surrounding forests, although the mountainside location generally offers clean fresh air with stunning sunsets and excellent stargazing! Generally good wireless service coverage on site. The land contains over a mile and a half of scenic walking trails, with aesthetic rock features and elegant naturally bonsai'd oak trees and shrubs in a landscape undergoing careful restoration to its naturally fire resistant native condition. Wildlife abounds, mostly the friendly sort however visitors should be mindful to avoid unwelcome encounters, and any small children or pets kept under close watch. On the upside, there are almost no biting insects to dodge. Your host knows the environment well and can answer questions or concerns. This unique property is a work in progress combining ecological design, conservation, landscape art, and appropriate technology for a refined experience of the "wild side" of life close to the ground. Activity, development, and ambience on site are all low impact to preserve and enhance the natural experience in this special setting. Guests are advised to remain mindful while visiting to minimize disturbance of other occupants and lifeforms! It's fine to have fun and make some intermittent noise but disruptive or damaging behavior will be promptly curtailed.
