3 nights at Little Buffalo Cabin

We absolutely love this cabin. Our 4 and 7 year old had an amazing time running around outside, while we loved gazing at the praire and mountain views during any free minute we had. Walking to get some delicious pizza for dinner and saying hello to the horses in the back were some of our highlights. We even had a little flurry one night and enjoyed the evening by the fire. The cabin itself is a beautiful example of a quintessential Coloradoan historical timepiece. We can't wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Arrowhead Point Camping Resort

Great stay in the cabin! Cabin was perfect with the basics - the bunk beds and the big double bed, a very nice space heater that was perfect in the cold, and a mini fridge which was great to have! Bathroom/shower facilities were a short walk and kept clean. Overall a great time!

Weekend Trip to Twin Bridges Campground

We stayed two nights total, camping right by the river. The scenery was breathtaking, and the sound of the river at night was perfect for us. There was a ton of birds on the property that were nice to listen to in the mornings. The bathrooms were also nice (flush toilets and warm water showers).

1 night at Little Buffalo Cabin

I’m so glad I was able to book this cabin! It’s so adorable I could just die of happiness. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes. I didn’t check out the grill, I went down the street for a burger and beverage. I love how things were kept as original as possible. Will be back for some night sky action soon.

We loved tent camping, even though there’s no service there the place had free WiFi and it was great having that there. The showers and restrooms were clean and nice to have on site. It was quiet and a great first time experience

Great cozy river side cabin with wonderful view of the mountains. I would recommend this spot to anyone. Just make sure you go when the weather is a bit warmer.

We had a great stay!! We brought our kids and stayed in a rustic cabin and it snowed on our way there! All beds had bedding there was a heater to warm the whole cabin and plenty of outlets and electricity for everyone! We also had a mini fridge. The owner was really nice along with the camp host she brought our kids some audiobooks and an extra heater in case! All in all we had a great stay and we will be back for another camp trip there!!

Weekend Trip to Sweetwater River Resort

Just wanted to share my recent experience at Pioneer #2 cabin. Despite some mixed reviews, we decided to take the risk and it paid off! Check-in was a breeze and we were pleasantly surprised to find the heater running as we entered, making it nice and cozy. The cabin, along with the beds, were impeccably clean. It does get chilly at night, so bringing extra blankets wouldn't hurt. The rustic charm of the cabin was a standout feature - it was reminiscent of 'Little House on the Prairie', if you're familiar with the show. The experience did have its minor hiccups, with the power going out a couple times due to the cabin's limited capacity, but we got around it by being thoughtful about our appliance usage. The cabin offered an incredible view of the river, and trust me, the nighttime stargazing is an unparalleled spectacle. The restrooms and showers were spotless and well-provisioned with hot water. Overall, it's a place I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a rustic retreat. Looking forward to staying there again!

Overnight, Seasonal, and Extended Stay Camping, we are open year-round. We have 30/50amp sites (shade and partial shade) around our lake, 20 amp in the "upper campground," and dry camping (full facilities) along the Arkansas River (Gold Medal fishing) with access for all campers for fishing and floating. Many of our sites are great for star-gazing, watching meteors, looking for fireflies, and seeing the birds zip on by. Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.

The towns of Alma and Fairplay have a history of gold dredging, with some placer gold operations still active. This land was part of a mining project, and some mine entrances were closed by my husband when we first moved here. Learn more about this land and Fairplay at the Visitor's Welcome Center in Downtown South Park. There are lots of historic places to explore. Please be aware that this campsite is full of trees and set in a park-like setting, and wildlife is active here 24/7. We only rent two spots and are located near several national forests. Campsite #1 comes with electricity and water. Please bring your own extensions and hoses; if needed, we rent them on site. Check extras for fees. Owner lives in RV. Land will never be left alone someone is always here. Drive up the hill or walk up the hill next to RV to find all amenities, Like bathroom and bear trash. Head west to Gunnison National Forest and hike over 3,000 miles of trails winding through mountains, plateaus, and woodlands. Then, head to a nearby RV park with showers, full hookups, and picnic tables, or stay in a cabin rental with electricity, heating, and cleaning supplies. Travel south to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve to explore the tallest dunes in the country.
