Hot spring camping near Hot Sulphur Springs with climbing guide

Overview

Breathe in the steam at Hot Sulphur Springs—a charming mountain town just 30 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park. The springs are among the oldest in Colorado (and the nation). First discovered by the Ute and Arapaho peoples, they fill 20+ natural pools. When you're not soaking, get outside and enjoy some of the adventure Grand County has to offer. Ready to find your mountain base camp? Plenty of RV and tent camping spots await at Rocky Mountain National Park. Just drive up Highway 40 to reach the 415 square miles of rugged mountain beauty. Gawk up at 12,000-foot peaks from 300 miles of hiking trails. South of Hot Sulphur Springs, you come to Arapaho National Forest. The mountain wilderness hosts more than 15 campgrounds with mountain views. Of those, the South Fork and Sugar Loaf campgrounds are the easiest to access from Hot Sulfur Springs. Want to camp close to town? Most RV parks and resorts are in larger cities such as Grand Lake. But you can always make camp at Pioneer Park. Nestled on the banks of the Colorado River, this convenient spot boasts a handful or RV and tent sites. Enjoy trout fishing, hiking, mountain biking, or a round on the disc golf course. Hot Sulphur Springs is a popular destination in every season—just not for camping. Snow falls heavy in the Rockies, so most campgrounds are only open May through October. For prime camping conditions, head out from June to August. The warm weather and wildflower blooms can't be beaten.
