High Peaks Campground

22 sites · RVs, Tents40 acres · Moffat, CO
Welcome to the San Luis Valley; the highest Alpine Valley in the world! This campground sits close to the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. You can also see the San Juan mountain range to the east in the distance. San Juans are part of the NW rim of the Continental Divide. Great Sand Dunes are visible from every site. With unlimited mountain views, beautiful starry night skies, come see the Milky Way, Eclipse, Meteor showers!!! Previously known as High Desert Ranch Campground, this land was originally part of a large ranch in the 1980s. The main ranch is still up and running but this parcel was used for many purposes over the years. In 2021, we were featured in USA Todays Ten Best for star gazing! My property has 360 degree mountains views with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as our back yard. Nearby you can find many different trail systems for all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts. From hiking to jeeping, ATV or dirt biking and equestrians - you can find it all! You will be surrounded by ranch land and state land with Wildlife Refuge just two miles away. Accommodations for those with livestock, just make sure you chat in advance your initial message. Close to BLM, and National Forest as well as 3 hot springs within 20 miles and the Great Sand Dunes. We are still under construction and making changes often so bear with us while we continue to add and change things for the better!

The Scott Ranch

3 sites · RVs, Tents147 acres · South Fork, CO
Welcome to the Scott Ranch located 10 minutes east of South Fork, CO. Our ranch is easily accessible via a flat, state-maintained road, just seconds off Highway 160. Our family purchased the ranch a couple years ago. We are native Coloradoans who are interested in conservation. The Scott Ranch is a 147 acre, conserved ranch and boasts some of the most beautiful riparian grassland in the valley. We have hundreds of tall cottonwoods bordering almost a mile of private, gold medal water on the Rio Grande . There are literally thousands of species of plants and animals on the property. Come enjoy the incredible sunset views from the firepit perched high above the large pond and be prepared for one the best stargazing experiences in the valley! Please know that we are not an RV park, nor do we want to be. We have only three sites. This is intentional because we want your experience to be focused on the beauty of the ranch. The sites are flat and relatively private. Each site is 26x80 (easy pull through) with individual access to power (50 amp, 30 amp and 110 outlet) and water. There is common area that includes a large firepit, picnic table and charcoal grill for you enjoyment. You also have immediate access to a septic system station next to the sites, at your convenience. Please know the Scott ranch is a working ranch. The lower corridor of the ranch will have livestock (cattle) grazing for several weeks out of the year. (Calving season is adorable!) For insurance reasons, guest access to the lower pastures and river corridor is only allowed through a separate reservation. If you are interested in accessing the grazing corridor, for example to fly fish our gold medal waters on the river, please inquire.

Badger Creek Ranch

3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents4000 acres · Cañon City, CO
Badger Creek Ranch is a family owned and operated working ranch high above the Arkansas Valley in Central Colorado. We take a holistic approach to ranching and land stewardship; from having good daily practices by living “off the grid,” providing healthy locally sourced food to our guests and healthy, humanely raised meat to our meat customers, and by living in harmony with nature, including our livestock and the wildlife that call the ranch their home. Our intention is to create a space that provides connection and community. This work is meant to be shared and experienced by all. We welcome you to join us and be a part of Badger Creek Ranch. Whether you want to get your hands in the dirt, take respite and recharge, or find inspiration for your own work, Badger Creek’s gate is open. Experiences such as our One-Day Working Ranch experience, Walking Tours, and Carriage/Wagon Rides are available for an additional charge. See our website for details.

CO High Desert Recreations Area!

2 sites · RVs5 acres · Blanca, CO
This property was a vacant lot in the historic San Luis Valley. Ideally, if you see a large farm with Barley growing everywhere, think of Coors. Blanca’s been known all over the US for supplying Barley to Coors (for beer :) ) You have access to the whole five acre lot and are encouraged to visit the tribal gift shops in Blanca and Fort Garland. I got a great set of Antler towel holders and some pretty awesome rugs, last I visited.Learn more about this land:This is a brilliant weekend stay for a couple, your dog and kids. You’ll find wild grazing cattle occasionally, elk and deer and bunnies in the prairie, vast open spaces for atvs/ buggies. You have The Great Sand Dunes 30 minutes north of here, Blanca peak (14k ft. Peak) with a mild hike and Zapata falls to unwind and Smith Reservoir to catch a couple good sized bass. Blanca has a couple good places to eat, however Fort Garland’s your best bet for some great chow. Please pick up after yourself as you return home and help my family welcome the next family to our land.
