Taste of Old Florida

12 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Palm City, FL
A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want than this may not be your kind of place.

We're also blessed by visitations from seasonal birds such as cardinals, kestrels, swallow-tail kites, orioles, buntings, and warblers. Bring your outdoor gear for biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, or beach-going! From our location, you can explore the neighborhood on foot or bicycle, with sidewalks directly abutting the property. Canals in the area are open to fishing (just don't enter private property!). We're also within 25 minutes of remarkable destinations such as: Jonathan Dickinson State Park - known for it's expansive scrub, excellent mountain bike trails, and the highest natural point SE of Lake Okeechobee Jupiter Island - frequented by tourists and locals alike for it's gorgeous beaches, intra-coastal access, and fresh seafood Grassy Waters Preserve - 18+ miles of well-maintained trails winding throughout pristine wetlands. Look for alligators, great blue herons, great egrets, sandhill cranes, roseate spoonbills, turtles, limpkins, and more

The farm, rich with diverse flora, serves as a testament to the possibility of cultivating food in harmony with nature. With a natural pond reflecting the sky and a cypress forest providing shade, the site is a living example of how agricultural practices can coexist with the environment. Wildlife Refuge: Surrounded by a city environment, the wildlife refuge within the agroforestry site stands as a testament to the resilience of nature amidst urbanization. This space fosters a sense of community, encouraging shared experiences and conversations under the open sky. It exemplifies the essence of coming together to appreciate and learn from nature. Nature's Unfiltered Beauty: Unlike manicured gardens, this facility proudly stands in its natural state. The untamed beauty of the landscape contributes to the existence of a diverse array of wildlife. Visitors are invited to witness nature as it is, fostering a deep appreciation for the raw, unfiltered beauty that often goes unnoticed in our modern, structured world. Invitation to Experience: This isn't just a description; it's an invitation. Come, explore, and experience the magic of this agroforestry site for yourself. Feel the connection between nature and sustainable living, learn about permaculture, and revel in the simplicity of a campfire under the stars. Witness the beauty that emerges when humans and nature coexist harmoniously. In this city oasis, the agroforestry site isn't just a piece of land; it's a living, breathing classroom where the lessons are taught by the wind in the trees, the rustling of leaves, and the vibrant life that thrives in every corner. It's time to appreciate nature and learn about how it works, not just as observers but as active participants in the dance of life. Are you ready to embark on this journey into the heart of agroforestry? Come see for yourself. Nature is waiting to share its secrets with you.

You will enjoy all the sights and sounds of farm while easy reach to city life and beautiful beaches. Located within 2 hours north of Miami and 2 hours south of Orlando, best of Florida's larger attractions.La Bougainvillea is 520 square feet guess suite with an independent entrance attached to the main house (where actual owners and dogs live at) with plenty of outdoor space for you to enjoy. The room has an open concept with a main area where there is a super comfy Queen side bed plus a Twin size sofa bed for an extra guess or kid.PLEASE READ before choosing La Bougainvillea as your place to stay: We have 3 super friendly dogs in the premises and they will be super happy to see you and say hi to you, this is a 5 acre property and the dogs are usually running around the whole area and most likely you will encounter them more than once, treats are always welcome for them and they will love you for that. Remember this property is located in the country side of Palm City and even when we have a very good pest control, sometimes you can have an encounter with different critters and animals as coyotes, raccoons, snakes, chickens, hawks, lizards, armadillos, possums among other things. Our property runs on well water and even when we have an excellent 4 stages filtration system, there is sometimes an odor and/or color associated with this specially in raining season. We assure you the water is good and safe for drinking, cooking, bathing, and washing as per mentioned before it runs through a multistage filtration and softening system. We have within the property our own business which is an exclusive and private classic car restoration shop and sometimes noise and other vehicles can be heard or seen. It is also a nice opportunity to see the restoration process and sometimes the final cool looking restored vehicles.Due that we are in the countryside, our internet is Satellite, so it is not as fast as in the city but yes we do have WiFi and you can stream basically anything with a little bit of patience.
