Terrapin Hill Farm

The land that is now Terrapin Hill Farm has been a gathering place over the ages, and we have continued the tradition with music festivals, yoga retreats, weddings, and other celebrations. We believe that getting out in Nature... by camping, hiking, gazing at a campfire or at starry skies... is not only beneficial but necessary to our mental health. That's why we want to share our little slice of heaven with others.

I live on 5.5 acres.  It's peaceful and quiet and I love it here.  I've stayed at other hip camps and simply decided that I would love to share my little slice of heaven with others passing through my area.  Notes: there is a wee bit of road noise, I live on a dead end road, there are 10 acres between my 5 acres and the Blue Grass Parkway.  I find it peaceful here and can easily ignore it but I'm mentioning it so your not surprised by it  ;)  The Neighbor dog (Roxy) is very friendly and might visit you while you are here :)

You are welcome to hang a hammock in a small section of woods, by a small pond, or even on my covered porch.

You are welcome to pitch a tent anywhere you like.

You are welcome to park an RV or vehicle in the drive.  The drive is about 250ft long, you would need to back in in order to hook up to the 30 or 50 amp plug.

RV's can use the 30 or 50 amp plug (30 amp will need an adapter.  I have one you can use if you don't own one of your own) and hose for water.

I'm a great travel guide so feel free to tell me what your in town for or things you like to do.  I will happily make you up a list of things to do and see and places to eat.

Keenland, Churchill Downs, The Bourbon Tour (Jim Beam, Makers Mark, Heaven Hill, and many others) are within an hour of here.  Also within an hour are 2 great bike paths, wonderful hiking and kayaking.  As well as Great Shopping and Restaurants.  Anything your heart desires.

Rough & Wild to Full Service

Learn more about this land:This is camping for people who want to carry their gear in.  Find their spot and prep it for a beautiful connection with nature.  If this is too rough for you.  We have cleared field areas that get you feet from nature with out being in the middle of the woods at night.  We have a wide range of experiences to cater to you.  We are a small farm that can cater to those who want to be alone in the woods to a full service hands on experience and everything in between.  Each visitors experience is customized to their wants.  No cookie cutter one size fits most at Knife & Fork Farm.  We have a bunk house that can be rented by the room, the 2nd floor or the entire house.  Meal plans, on farm experiences, and classes are available.

Prayer Mountain Mushroom Farm

Escape the hustle and bustle and embrace the serenity of our picturesque 50-acre farm. Each of our three campsites offers a private and stunning natural setting. We believe in making nature accessible and enjoyable for all, so our sites are designed to be affordable and simple. 

Firewood and Essentials

Forget the hassle and expense of firewood—we've got you covered. Each site comes with a supply of firewood. The wood we supply can sometimes be tough to get started. We recommend you bring fire starters or a small amount of kindling to get things started.

Primitive but Beautiful

Our campsites are rustic and primitive, perfect for those who love the great outdoors. You’ll experience nature in its purest form, with the beauty of the landscape and the presence of local wildlife, including insects. It’s all part of the charm of outdoor living.

Trash Disposal

We are committed to preserving the beauty of our land. Please pack out all trash to keep our sites clean and beautiful for the next guests. Trash can be disposed of in the dumpster near the greenhouses as you exit. 

Ticks and Safety

As with any natural setting, ticks are present.  We have been working at eradicating ticks at the camps sites by mowing and using nontoxic DE dust around sites. We recommend bringing insect repellent and checking for ticks regularly to ensure a safe and enjoyable stay.

Farm Fresh Goods

Don’t forget to pick up some of our delicious mushrooms and farm-fresh eggs on your way in. They’re a perfect addition to your campfire meals. (Limited Supply. Reach out before your stay.)

Booking Information

To keep things simple and secure, all bookings must be made through the Hipcamp app. We do not accept cash or in-person reservations. If you’d like to extend your stay, please use the app to make the necessary arrangements.

Secluded Woods on the Bourbon Trail

* HIKE IN ONLY *
The property adjoins our family pumpkin farm where we have miniature Zebu cattle, mini horses and mini goats.  There are 109 acres, 91 acres of which is dense woods with plenty of trails to explore.

While completely isolated and secluded, it is still close to town and highways/railway, so there will be typical sounds associated with those.

Absolute seclusion on the Bourbon Trail and only 4.5 miles from town. Only two designated sites on 109 total acres, or find/make your own spot in the dense woods.  Park at the host residence and a short hike in is required.  There is a strong 5G signal, and each site includes a fire pit and picnic table.  The closest site has an outdoor shower.  There are three miles of easy walking/biking trails through the woods.  Salt River (off site) is less than a mile away and offers a popular kayak launch location, and an amazing destination just a little further down the road where you can drive in the river (see pics).  Four Roses Distillery is .4 miles off site and within walking/ biking distance on Bondsmill Rd. 

The property is almost entirely wooded and borders the Norfolk Southern railway.  Some locations are within 100yds of the railway, where you can see the train through the trees as it passes by.  Other areas are much further away.   
Be warned!  Lawrenceburg KY is known for it's Wildman Days Festival because of the high volume of Bigfoot sightings in the area, and there have been multiple, documented sightings on this property. 

Firewood available for a small fee upon request.  Preview of sites by ATV tour *may* be available during daylight hours. This is primitive camping and you will be surrounded by wildlife, chiggers, ticks and anything else that creeps in the woods. No electric.  Hike in/out only.  Leave no trace.
