Butte LaRose is located in the heart of Acadiana and in the heart of the Atchafalaya Basin, which is true cajun country. Hunting and fishing is the way of life, here. The Atchafalaya Basin is the nations largest river swamp containing almost one million acres of America's most significant bottom land hardwood swamps, bayous and backwater lakes. Many hummingbirds visit here every year. They arrive approximately mid March and leave mid October. There are also many festivals in a close range or take a swamp tour to see the alligators. Check out Turtles bar and restaurant on the levy or The Butte bar 1 mile away. Our Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival and Lafayette's Festival International are famous and near by. In Acadiana there are so many festivals, too many festivals to mention. Enjoy some good food like boudin, cracklings or crawfish.
