YOU CAN BRING YOUR PERSONAL ATV, or we will bring all your gear up to your campsite with our camp side-by-side. ( 2-3 minute walk if you want to walk or backpack in-or we can drive you up too!). OUR -ON SITE-ATV TRAIL WILL BRING YOU .2 MILES (on the road) FROM THE LOCAL ATV TRAIL SYSTEM. The camp area offers a screened building with table and outdoor sink for day use, complete with a campfire pit. You will camp with 17 acres of privacy. Water and electric on site. If you like CAMPING, but you are not a campground type person, THE OUTPOST may be for you. My goal as a host is that while on your stay at the OUTPOST, you will feel like it’s your own…….quite…..peaceful…..private….scenic. Anglers will delight in our 2,000 feet of brook frontage (short walk away)- stocked with trout by the state of Maine (fishing license required). We also have a stocked fish pond a short walk through the woods to Agape Acres for your viewing enjoyment or a picnic.( no fishing on this pond ). There are a number of GREAT small bass ponds in our area just minutes away! Also, disc golf and 3 local trails- STREAKED MOUNTAIN TRAIL, PACKARD TRAIL, and the LOWELL TRAIL are within a 10 minute drive. ******RV campers will appreciate our 50 amp and 30 amp service options. Best of all, access to all amenities is included with your reservation, allowing you to fully enjoy your stay. The OUTPOST SITE communal outdoor summer kitchen use provided free. 2 bundles of firewood free. Walk in sites are separated well but share the fire pit and summer kitchen and sink and bathhouse-I recommend reserving BOTH SITES for total privacy. Bicycle repair shop on premises. It's so peaceful and the tranquility will not take long to make you so relaxed, you will not want to leave. The sound of song birds in the morning with your cup of coffee is exactly what we need along with the sound of the water from the creek and/or pond. You can plug in with our free WIFI or unplug and enjoy the surroundings. Sebec Lake is a 5 minute walk from the campground and there are pontoon rentals at the bottom of the hill. There is a yoga instructor on the lake that will do paddle board yoga in groups of at least 5. We offer several board games, as well as outdoor games. We have been working on creating a playground for the young kids. There is 1 Kayak for rent here and working on more. We offer hammocks for use and have already put the hangers in the trees. We recently added hot showers and flushing toilets (although we still keep some portable potties around in case the bathroom is occupied).

Katahdin, in Baxter State Park. We offer both wooded and open sites that can accommodate most rigs. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, water, 30 or 50-amp electrical service, and most offer sewer. Groups and tent campers are welcome. Balsam Woods campground is less than a minute’s drive from Piper Pond, a 2-mile-long lake with public boat launch and beach access. Onsite, we have a camp store and snack bar stocked with necessities, treats, and goodies for the whole family. There is no shortage of fun activities with our heated pool, classic rec hall, playground, a new jumping pillow, and gem mining! We have three cozy rustic cabins as well as three deluxe cabins for those wanting to experience the beauty of the great outdoors but who may not be ready for the tenter or RV life!

Your Own Private Island

Want a unique vacation? Everyone loves the idea of their own island. Peaceful, quiet and away from it all. In recent years we even have a nesting bald eagle pair! Our cottage is rustic, no running water and no electricity. We have a propane stove, refrigerator, and lanterns. Guests must bring water and small propane canisters for their stay. Guests are required to clean before departure. Bathroom is within the cottage and has an odor free composting toilet. For showering needs we have a camp style solar shower. Bedroom has a full-size bed. Crow's nest has a small futon that opens for an additional bed for one. The $375 fee is the cost of the boat captain to make one trip to deliver you and your gear to the island and one to take you back. If you will be coming in your own boat or kayak, please let us know and we can refund that fee if we aren't hiring the captain. Depending on the captain's schedule often arrival is the last trip of day and departure is 8 am. Additional trips can be arranged with our captains as well as sightseeing tours. Please note the captain charges $25 to transport a pet. We have a dock if you would be interested in bringing your own boat. Boat rentals also available nearby. This location is also great for snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing and any other winter activities you can think of. Bridgton town center offers many close amenities, including Standard GastroPub, Black Horse Tavern, Nectar Juice Bar, Bavarian Chocolate Haus, Bear Bones Beer and Magic Lantern Theater. All other amenities are a short 2-3 minute walk up to our OUTPOST SITE and day use communal picnic area. OUTPOST CAMPSITE This site we call our ATV-UTV or walk in tenting-camp area. YOU CAN BRING YOUR PERSONAL ATV, or we will bring all your gear up to your campsite with our camp side-by-side. ( 2-3 minute walk if you want to walk or backpack in-or we can drive you up too!). OUR -ON SITE-ATV TRAIL WILL BRING YOU .2 MILES (on the road) FROM THE LOCAL ATV TRAIL SYSTEM. The camp area offers a screened building with table and outdoor sink for day use, complete with a campfire pit. You will camp with 17 acres of privacy. Water and electric on site. If you like CAMPING, but you are not a campground type person, THE OUTPOST may be for you. My goal as a host is that while on your stay at the OUTPOST, you will feel like it’s your own…….quite…..peaceful…..private….scenic. Anglers will delight in our 2,000 feet of brook frontage (short walk away)- stocked with trout by the state of Maine (fishing license required). We also have a stocked fish pond a short walk through the woods to Agape Acres for your viewing enjoyment or a picnic.( no fishing on this pond ). There are a number of GREAT small bass ponds in our area just minutes away! Also, disc golf and 3 local trails- STREAKED MOUNTAIN TRAIL, PACKARD TRAIL, and the LOWELL TRAIL are within a 10 minute drive. ******RV campers will appreciate our 50 amp and 30 amp service options. Best of all, access to all amenities is included with your reservation, allowing you to fully enjoy your stay. The OUTPOST SITE communal outdoor summer kitchen use provided free. 2 bundles of firewood free. Hello! Thank you for looking at our listing! You will not be disappointed in this small campground with only 4 primitive tent sites and 2 tiny cabins. It's so peaceful and the tranquility will not take long to make you so relaxed, you will not want to leave. The sound of song birds in the morning with your cup of coffee is exactly what we need along with the sound of the water from the creek and/or pond. You can plug in with our free WIFI or unplug and enjoy the surroundings. Sebec Lake is a 5 minute walk from the campground and there are pontoon rentals at the bottom of the hill. There is a yoga instructor on the lake that will do paddle board yoga in groups of at least 5. We offer several board games, as well as outdoor games. We have been working on creating a playground for the young kids. There is 1 Kayak for rent here and working on more. We offer hammocks for use and have already put the hangers in the trees. We recently added hot showers and flushing toilets (although we still keep some portable potties around in case the bathroom is occupied).

I have a two night minimum but will consider a single night reservation occasionally with a $20 additional fee. We have been hosting guests for 10 years at our eclectic, nature filled, good vibe overflowing, quirky lodging. Come and expect some interaction with host, to your comfort, and possibly bumping into another guest or two as you are mesmerized by the evening call of the hermit thrush on route to the campfire or spontaneously planned lobster/vegan/other bake in the back yard. Enjoy great conversation at the fire and burn a few marshmallows. Bend your ear for that haunting barred owl or coyote call. I support your relaxing beverage or two at the fire or around the property but this definitely not a party place. We will consider your pet with $35 fee and a conversation ahead of time. We have a jack russell and black cat so have to protect their interests and those of other pets and guests coming as well. Your pup must be on leash at all times unless/until we decide they are safe, others are comfortable and that it works for all to have them run free at times. Thanks! Lounge on stunning porch busy with wildlife, walk or bike a woodsy trail, nod out or challenge your son to a game of tetherball. Just minutes from busy Route One, this lovely island oasis is convenient to local favorites like Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Popham Beach, Reid State Park, the quaint towns of Bath and Damariscotta and all the midcoast has to offer. You can find yoga, pottery, preserves to explore and organic beer on the island as well. Ask Cary about signing up for a reiki session, foraging/wild edibles walk and nibble, a workshop on kombucha with your own "scobie" to go, arts and crafts to include tea cup bird feeders and solar bird baths, a boardgame, a lead road ride or a mountain bike rental to explore gravel here. Continue the "community story" by adding a line or more, add your touch to the hippie bus with a little paint....so much more. Cary loves to help you plan your day based on your interests. Ask about lobster or vegan backyard dinners (additional price), her famous blueberry muffins and fresh veggie frittatas at breakfast with enough interest and other "extras" on the property. You can rent a bicycle, enjoy a relaxing, healing Reiki session, or inquire about a workshop on a variety of nature based subjects or an art or craft activity. You will LOVE this spot. See you soon! Your Own Private Island

Want a unique vacation? Everyone loves the idea of their own island. Peaceful, quiet and away from it all. In recent years we even have a nesting bald eagle pair! Our cottage is rustic, no running water and no electricity. We have a propane stove, refrigerator, and lanterns. Guests must bring water and small propane canisters for their stay. Guests are required to clean before departure. Bathroom is within the cottage and has an odor free composting toilet. For showering needs we have a camp style solar shower. Bedroom has a full-size bed. Crow's nest has a small futon that opens for an additional bed for one. The $375 fee is the cost of the boat captain to make one trip to deliver you and your gear to the island and one to take you back. If you will be coming in your own boat or kayak, please let us know and we can refund that fee if we aren't hiring the captain. Depending on the captain's schedule often arrival is the last trip of day and departure is 8 am. Additional trips can be arranged with our captains as well as sightseeing tours. Please note the captain charges $25 to transport a pet. We have a dock if you would be interested in bringing your own boat. Boat rentals also available nearby. Arrival and departure times are dependent on the captain's availability. See Bald eagles and seals. You can fish for striped bass right off the island. Water views from every window. The upper floor of the cottage is the Crow's nest (a tiny space accessible from a ladder below,) in the treetops with great sunset views. Bring your kayaks! A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. Then one day, Caleb and Wolf met on a bus, heading south from Down East Maine, where they instantly connected and joined forces. They worked together redressing a home in Stonington for visitors to experience and became brothers while doing so. Eventually, the presence and opportunity of the campground caught their attention and after working out the technicalities, they worked together to bring this beautiful land and campground back to the people under its new life and name, Four Acre Woods.
