Weekend Trip to Colby's Cabin

Cabin was absolutely cozy and it’s nice to go back when times are simple. A simple walk in nature with a child experiencing and teaching things that we learned as children was so meaningful for all of us and we anticipate returning for a longer stay. Aranka by far is the best hostess I have encountered. The farm fresh eggs were delicous. Can’t wait to return.

Weekend Trip to Harmony Mountain Farm

This was our second time here and will definitely keep coming back. It’s very private and Cindy is so welcoming and an amazing host. Our favorite part was waking up to the sunrise over the mountains on the porch outside with a cup of coffee. So relaxing and exactly the break we needed from our daily life.

This place is the bees knees! I surprised my wife for her birthday to a week at the cabin and were both blown away! Both Cindy and Bill were fantastic hosts, the property is gorgeous and the fresh produce was quite the added bonus. We plan to return as much as possible

Weekend Trip to Rooted Heart Farm Yurt

I absolutely loved my stay at the yurt. The staff was so incredibly helpful and kind the whole time. They were accommodating and really wonderful. The yurt was spacious with amply access to wood. The outhouse was so cute (I know weird thing to say about an outhouse). It was just a great trip. I cooked on the wood stove a pork stew and some tea. I would stay again, definitely. 2 nights at Colby's Cabin

Lovely cabin! The log walls lend so much charm. The Jotul wood stove is easy to work with and burns very efficiently. We loved the motion-activated lighting that made it easy to move around (with few windows, the interior of the cabin is quite dark). Several solar- and battery-powered lamps located throughout create very nice ambiance, but if you need lots of light for focused tasks (like reading, assembling puzzles, and knitting) you might want to bring extra lanterns and headlamps. During our 2-night stay, some of the lamps burned out and we were glad to have headlamps to fill in. There's not a lot of room to roam around outside the cabin (we went for a walk in the woods but encountered No Trespassing signs before we'd wandered too far) but if you're ready to drive to activities, or to cozy inside for quiet cabin time as we did, this is a fantastic retreat.

We loved our trip to the yurt! Out host was friendly and helpful and the yurt is amazing! Loved the wood stove which kept us cozy and warm the whole time. Highly recommend a stay!

2 nights at Colby's Cabin

Super relaxing, the cabin had charm to it. If you need an escape from the noise of modern-day life but don't want to rough it this is it. The cabin stayed very warm on cold winter nights getting close to single digits. We plan on visiting again. Aranka was an incredible host!

1 night at Rooted Heart Farm Yurt

The yurt at Rooted Heart is an absolutely beautiful, brilliant destination!! After a peaceful walk through the gardens you come to the secluded shelter, clearly built with a great deal of love and intention. The interior offered everything we needed for the stay, and I really appreciate how they didn't over-cram the interior of the space, which is somwthing I've experienced at other yurt rentals. The Rooted Heart yurt, however, had a perfectly simple balance of aesthetically pleasing functionality and enough space to move around!! Delightful. I especially liked the big stone hearth, and the cute woodstove which kept the cold at bay. Plus, that privy design is second to none! The craftsfolk who put this thing together are obviously gifted artists! What a joy to experience. I will definitely be returning. Thank you so much, Rooted Heart fam!! <3

2 nights at Carter's XC Ski Center

Camp Fern was the perfect getaway. Anne fired up the woodstove & I arrived to a warm & cozy cottage. My favorite spot was watching the sun set from the upstairs. I enjoyed the quiet and beauty of nature. Fantastic communication from Anne. I look forward to returning some day.

Weekend Trip to Carter's XC Ski Center

Everything about Stonewall Cabin was just what we hoped and expected. The interior was impressively clean when we arrived. The setting (in the woods, right on the trail network) was pretty and convenient for XC skiing. Highway noise (from quite a few miles away) is audible from outside the cabin, but otherwise, the setting feels very secluded and natural. There was plenty of firewood and water in the provided jugs, and the gas lamps provided good light for reading and cooking (we brought our headlamps, but only used them for nighttime trips to the outhouse). Great stock of board games, too!

Weekend Trip to Harmony Mountain Farm

This place is a true gem. If you're looking for a peaceful escape to nature hosted by an incredible farming family, come. The cabin is secluded and the pond, with its amazing wildlife, is yours to enjoy uninhibited. I needed a reconnection to nature and this checked all the boxes, and then some. I'm used to rustic camping so the hot water, shower, fridge, super comfy bed, woodstove, lamps, etc were luxurious in a place that felt like back country camping. Plus, it smells amazing! I can't wait to come back and visit the pond in another season.

Insulated Tiny Cabin

We have an 8X8 cabin available in a small grove on the edge of our homestead/medicinal herb farm. The cabin has a full size bed (bring your own pillows and bedding) with some floor space for a small cot or sleeping pad. The space allows for two adults and two small children, anymore than that would be very tight. The cabin is insulated so the road traffic isn’t bad but it is noticeable at certain hours when the window is open. There is a large parking area with about a 100 yard walk across a lawn and then another 100 yard walk through an uneven wooded trail to the cabin. We have two composting toilet outhouses available for guests use that we take care of on a daily basis.Inside of our large greenhouse, there is a hot water outdoor semi-private shower, only biodegradable soap that we provide can be used. There is also a kitchen and seating area in the greenhouse with a propane grill, toaster oven, microwave and electric kettle and small coffee maker/French press. The greenhouse is a communal space that our family uses as a wood shop and greenhouse space so while the kitchen and shower area are kept clean and clear for guests, the rest of the greenhouse is a working space that can be in various states depending on what projects we have going on. Dogs are allowed but they need to be leashed due to our free ranging ducks and the closeness of the road. We can occasionally provide eggs and some veggies and herbs for tea for a small fee if it’s arranged in advance.We provide a fire pit and kindling but ask that you bring your own fire wood that has been purchased in the area so as not to bring in any new pests.The parking area is large enough if you want to bring a boat or trailer.Our spot is 3 miles from downtown Freeport and is located near a commuter road so it’s easy access to many spots.Freeport is a coastal town with two state parks, lots of great diverse trails which are well maintained and lots of restaurants/breweries. We are a short drive from Portland, Brunswick and Bath which both have lots of parks and restaurants. Lisbon falls and new Glouster also have great trails and restaurants that are amazing yet less crowded than Portland. We are a short drive from family destinations like the desert of Maine in Freeport, Maine wildlife park in grey and the old orchard boardwalk. We are about 40 min from popham beach to the north and 40 min to crescent beach, old orchard beach and Scarborough beach to the south.As hosts, we are around if you need us but happy to give as much space and privacy as you would like. If we are out working in the fields or hanging out with our kids, we are happy to give tours or talk about any of the gardens or plants that catch your interest.
