Weekend Trip to Rooted Heart Farm Yurt

I absolutely loved my stay at the yurt. The staff was so incredibly helpful and kind the whole time. They were accommodating and really wonderful. The yurt was spacious with amply access to wood. The outhouse was so cute (I know weird thing to say about an outhouse). It was just a great trip. I cooked on the wood stove a pork stew and some tea. I would stay again, definitely. I’ll be posting a video to my YouTube Channel The_Traveling_Teacher.

We loved our trip to the yurt! Out host was friendly and helpful and the yurt is amazing! Loved the wood stove which kept us cozy and warm the whole time. Highly recommend a stay!

1 night at Rooted Heart Farm Yurt

The yurt at Rooted Heart is an absolutely beautiful, brilliant destination!! After a peaceful walk through the gardens you come to the secluded shelter, clearly built with a great deal of love and intention. The interior offered everything we needed for the stay, and I really appreciate how they didn't over-cram the interior of the space, which is somwthing I've experienced at other yurt rentals. The Rooted Heart yurt, however, had a perfectly simple balance of aesthetically pleasing functionality and enough space to move around!! Delightful. I especially liked the big stone hearth, and the cute woodstove which kept the cold at bay. Plus, that privy design is second to none! The craftsfolk who put this thing together are obviously gifted artists! What a joy to experience. I will definitely be returning. Thank you so much, Rooted Heart fam!! <3

Recently selectively logged we discovered views of local mountains and decided to take advantage of the clearings. The cabin was built for me to steal away from the house and enjoy the wildlife, quiet, stars and silence. It is too peaceful to keep to myself so come and enjoy all that Norway Maine and the surrounding area has to offer! Learn more about this land: Welcome to Lulu's. Where you can get a little crazy under the moon or you can take in the peace and serenity of the stillness in the woods. Depends on what you are looking for! No neighbors to infringe on your ideal get away. The large cabin has a welcoming front porch to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Streaked Mtn. 100 acres of privacy to hike, watch wildlife and just relax. Cabin has outside facilities. Off the grid-no electric or running water. Cell service is adequate. 1 gallon of fresh well water provided for drinking and 10 gallons for washing/cooking. Bring your own linens for a queen size bed, twin bunk beds and a full pull out couch. 2 pillows are supplied with a pillow protective cover and pillow case which are washed after each guest. Pots, pans and utensils, are onsite which are washed between campers; trash bags, compost bags, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels and a 2 burner propane stove(green canisters needed) and an older propane table top grill are provided. Camp fire grill on site if you prefer cooking over open flame. There are some battery operated light switches and solar lights in the camp and outhouse. Please remember you will be required to remove trash and outhouse composting bag. Thanks and hope to see you at Lulu's 100 acre wood! Downtown Norway has quaint shops to browse! Norway Lake has a public beach and boat dock. Many hiking trails nearby-Noyes Mtn, Patch Mnt, Singpole and Streaked Mtn to name a few. Casino, race track and breweries for night life. Oxford Hills has much to offer.

It started years ago my sister and I stayed in a yurt at a campground in Oregon. That was it. I was hooked so I got one. There is something magical about staying in a round structure in the trees. My love of nature and comfort drove me to create this special place to be able to share it with others. My TreeYurt is a platform built high in the trees so it essentially like a treehouse but with a yurt instead. It is located in the back part of my property surrounded by woods. In the spring there is a small stream running nearby and soon to come a bridge over to the fairy village. The land is somewhat sloped yet comfortable. There are apple orchards nearby and many hiking trails a short distance away as well as Portland a mere 15 minutes. The kitchenette has a small fridge a coffee maker a cook top with two burners pots pans utensils and kitchen towels as well a propane grill outside. There is a wood stove for heating in the winter as well as a monitor heater that makes it very cozy for chilly nights. The yurt is insulated so it is a great year round glamping adventure. I provide fire wood for the wood stove inside but the camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit is $5 per bundle. The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and instructions at located in the yurt and out house. There is no running water although recently added an outdoor sink for the warmer months is available for use for dishwashing and a bit of cleaning up. I provide gallons of drinking water and dishwashing water for the colder months inside the yurt with dish tubs sponges and soap.

Hidden Brook At Merrifield Farm

Hipcamp is aware of the glitch with booking with pets and are working to fix! please read this entire description for rules, and directions on how to get to Hidden Brook. Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. Three generations of farmers live here presently, but our family has been working this land since the mid 1700’s. Cornish is a pretty special place to live and visit because we are about 50 minutes drive from both the city of Portland on the coast and the White Mountains to the west. There are tons of local hikes here in the foothills, two big rivers to float or paddle, dozens of swim spots, good fishing and a lively little village with at least 7 antiques shops, local art and some pretty darn good restaurants. Our neighborhood even hosts some of the best musicians in the world each July at The Ossippee Valley Music Festival. Yeah, we got it all going on! Come play with us or just chill at Hidden Brook. So far, we have one spot open for “glamping”, The Bus, but will add The Vardo and two more sites as finances and our aging farmer bodies allow. The Bus, an engineless 1973 Bluebird School bus is pretty pimped out. Though off the grid, cell reception is pretty good and rechargable lighting is provided. Our outdoor kitchen, on a spacious deck, includes a heavy duty propane stove, Yeti cooler and pots and pans. Indoors, there’s a slop-bucket sink for dish washing and tooth-brushing, a small woodstove to take off the chill come fall and a nice big fire pit outside. Buses can get hot in summer, so we put ours in a shady little grove of ancient oaks amongst the remains of the farm’s original stonework and installed screens the full length of the bus. We built a compost-style outhouse and a beautiful outdood shower we call “The Cold Drizzler” down in the old homestead cellar hole. Kind of a secret garden bathroom : ) Inside is a full-sized bed for one or two people and two cot-sized “75 long bunks, sleeping a total of four humans. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Four towels provided. Coffee and “pour-overs” on site as well as silverware, bowls and plates. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat. Other things to note: Absolutely no smoking inside All shoes off before entering Quiet hours from 9:30 pm to 6:30 am ( we live in a small community and wish to respect our neighbors ) This is not a party camp, but a place to relax and listen to the birds. Please enjoy your music quietly. This is a working farm, but we will be as sensitive as possible when it comes to any loud machinery use like irrigation pumps and tractors while guests are around. Our dogs may visit, but are laid back once they have anounced your arrival. Directions to Hidden Brook and the Bus: You will be given directions to an address once you book but please make sure that you follow the signage to the bus carefully, otherwise you’ll end up at the wrong property. Drive until you see two giant, eyeballs attached to a telephone pole, and the bus will be immediately after that on your right. Thank you so much.

Our shared love for Celtic folk culture has blended naturally with our love of sustainable agriculture to create Tir na nOg Farm. Today, the work of restoration continues with the help of farm partners, family, friends, WWOOFers, and other volunteers. Overview

Cities called Portland crop up all over the United States, but no Portland does camping quite like Maine’s. From downtown to greater Portland, campsites offer a window into New England’s stunning scenery and communal culture. Embrace all things Maine with a tranquil beach campsite by the Atlantic Ocean, or, if you’re looking for a family-friendly or pet-friendly getaway, opt for an RV site with access to mini-golf and a playground. Just outside the city, you can explore Freeport’s Desert of Maine, though no matter where you stay, you’re guaranteed some of the state’s best camping.

Where to go

South of the City

Slowly make your way into Portland, and stop—and spend the night—just south of the city. Check into a beachfront rental in York County’s Kennebunkport or Old Orchard Beach, and enjoy views of the Saco Bay. Or, skip to Scarborough, where you’ll find no shortage of RV parks and glamping sites. Scarborough Beach State Park is a must-stop, especially for swimmers.

Casco Bay

If you’d rather camp north of Portland, you don’t have to go far for views. Rent a campsite in Casco Bay, where towering lighthouses and historic ships abound. Fishermen and birdwatchers will particularly enjoy the area’s robust wildlife, though if you want an ultra-adventurous camping trip, explore Chebeague Island. You’ll never tire of looking out at the clear Maine waters from your island tent site.

Sebago Lake

As one of Maine’s largest lakes, Sebago Lake proves that beachfront camping isn’t limited to the ocean. Check into a family campground and try kayaking around the lake. Then, unwind at your RV resort with full hookups and a fire pit. If you prefer biking, consider booking a campsite with trailhead access; Sebago Lake State Park is as picturesque as it is vast.

When to go

Maine is known for its cold waters year-round, so swimming—even in the summer—isn’t a given. Activities, however, are always guaranteed, so come between June and August to enjoy Portland at its most vibrant. Think: beachfront lobster shacks, outdoor concerts, and evenings spent barbecuing. Of course, crowds tend to have the same idea, so if you can handle chillier weather, book a campsite in the shoulder seasons. Campers will find a much quieter Portland—one best enjoyed from a campsite with wifi and extra blankets.
